Comfy house and garden with 2 loveable cockers
We are a retired couple. Once of us has worked in education whilst the other has mainly worked in local government. For a while we ran our own consultancy, focussing on improving and developing positive leadership in various organisations. We are very busy with activities in our Derbyshire Dales village. We both sing in the choir and give our time to support groups and individuals in numerous ways. We enjoy walking our dogs and often look after other dogs in our home. We are very keen gardeners and participate in the annual village open gardens weekend.
Our Home & Location
Our home is well equipped and comfortably furnished. Originally it was a bungalow but when we bought it 10 years ago it has been made into a two storey dwelling. There are 3 reception rooms, one of which has a comfy sofa bed, TV and gas fire. We spend a lot of time in this room, especially when we have dogs to stay and no guests staying. The dining room looks over the garden and can accommodate 6 diners at the table. The sitting room at the back of the house looks over the rear garden and, like the dining room, has French doors that open onto decking. There is easy seating and a table on the decking.
There’s a fully functional kitchen with a utility room adjacent. Both have sinks and between these 2 rooms there are all the white goods you would expect. There is a cage for the dogs in the kitchen and they sometimes choose to lie in here or even on top of it. There is a bathroom on ground level, currently with a shower over the bath. We are planning to refurbish this room and replace the bath with a walk in shower....
Upstairs there is a shower room and two other rooms, one which is a bedroom with double bed and the other mainly a study with a single bed.
Gas central heating provides warmth throughout the house.
There is garden at the front and back and a large drive allowing lots of parking.
Gates at the side of the house keep the dogs safe in the back garden. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Our dogs love their walks and we ensure they have at least an hour’s walk every morning. It is possible to walk from the house. Once away from the road we let them off the lead and they come back to the whistle. However, we appreciate some sitters may prefer to keep them on the lead. If that is the case or when we go for longer walks they each wear a harness. They eat twice a day. As with many spaniels we keep a close eye on their ears, but at the moment this is not a problem.
We use a local vet, just down the hill in Wirksworth. In the winter they are very quiet and relaxed in the evenings, in the warmer weather they stay outside until we come in. They enjoy being stroked and brushed and want to be with you. They are used to travel and are happy being in the car. We have a cage in the car to keep them safe when travelling.
