We have two 14 + year old French rescue dogs (very gentle) that we have had since they were five months old. Buddy is in good health, however Gully is showing his age and has recently slowed up considerably.
Our Home & Location
Our cottage is one mile out of the attractive market town of Shaftesbury, famous for Gold Hill of the Hovis bread advert. We are in a little cluster of seven private houses down a no through lane off the A350. We have stunning views across the lovely Dorset countryside, with cattle grazing peacefully beside our house in the field. Tesco supermarket is one mile away and Shaftesbury itself has many delightful shops and a weekly market. The bigger city of Salisbury is half an hour away by car. Tisbury railway is six miles away with a fast service to London Waterloo. There are many delightful walks in both Dorset and Wiltshire and the beach at Sandbanks, Poole is about an hour away. Our house has just been completely renovated and is spacious, warm and comfortable.
Responsibilities & Pets
To feed the dogs twice a day and make sure they always have access to fresh water and most importantly to keep them company as much as possible. We have always walked them every day for about 45mins/1hour, but recently Gully has sometimes declined to come, or if he does come it is a very slow walk! In order to go for a walk you would have to drive to the location (in your car) and they both need assistance to get in as the strength in their back legs is not what it was. I use a towel as a hoist to lift Gully in.
