Retreat to the Lincolnshire Wolds
My work takes me to The Netherlands once every three months or so. I enjoy walking (have no car), and living in my rural community, which is steeped in history; one of my interests. I enjoy sharing my small cottage with visitors and like to think that its a quiet, comfortable place to stay.
Our Home & Location
My cottage is in the quiet, rural hamlet of Bag Enderby, which is located in the Lincolnshire Wolds in an area known as 'Tennyson country'. Tennyson was born 1/2 mile down the road, and his father was rector of our church.
The cottage is a small, cosy Victorian semi-detached property with off-road parking and a largish garden. It has 2 bedrooms, the bathroom has a shower-over-bath. The house is well insulated and warm in winter and cool in summer....
Sitters would need a car as the nearest amenities are 6 miles away. Its the perfect location for walkers/ramblers/cyclists. We have various footpaths and bridlepaths which go through BE.
Lincoln is a 35-40 minute drive away to the west. Skegness and the east coast is about 30 minutes away. Boston is 30 minutes away to the south and we have several small market towns nearby; Horncastle (6 miles), Spilsby (6 miles) and Louth (10 miles). Another charming place is Woodhall Spa, with its Petwood Hotel and Kinema in the Woods.
The nearest pubs are in Tetford (3 miles) and South Ormsby (4 miles).
We have 2 National Trust properties in the area; Gunby Hall and Tattershall Castle and the BBMF are stationed nearby. If you're into WWII, East Kirkby Museum is a must see. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
I have a 9 year-old Cocker Spaniel, and a 12-year old cat. Both are very good with strangers. The dog does tend to get up early. Her life revolves around eating and getting lots of hugs! Her routine is, once awake she goes in the garden and then gets fed. We then go each morning and unlock the church before 9am, and then depending on my schedule for the day, she gets one good walk a day. She can go 5-6 hours without being let out. I also have obliging neighbours who if around will let her into the garden should I not make it back if I'm out. She is also very good in cars if you want to take her with you. She'll just sleep.
The cat is very sweet and laid back! He uses the kitchen window to go out through. He is in at night....
Basically the dog needs walking, and both need feeding. Apart from that there are no other responsibilities, unless in the summer you like to potter in the garden! I hope you will enjoy yourself. + More info
