Cottage in the countryside
This is a new thing for us, leaving our precious dogs and our home to the care of a stranger! But sending them all off to their holiday dog home is not practical now we have moved and neither is never going away, so we are giving it a go.
I’m a self-employed Zen Yoga Teacher and Simon is a therapist and examiner. We love this place, which we bought two years ago, and are slowly renovating. We enjoy the quiet and the countryside, so house sitting here would be for you if you love silence, reading, woodland walks, sitting in the garden day dreaming whilst cuddling and playing with some of the best dogs in the world....
Cavalier Spaniels are companion dogs and lap dogs - they follow you everywhere and insist on greeting you by pretty much smothering you. Do not expect to drink tea in bed without them! + More info
Our Home & Location
Cottage and half an acre backing onto beautiful woodland in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty containing three lovely dogs and one very cool cat. Very quiet, incredible birdsong, very dark skies (no street lights). Lots of fantastic walks and places to visit.
The cottage is under renovation, so it’s definitely not pristine! However, it’s cosy and comfortable and everything works. If you come in the winter please be aware that our heating is wood fuelled. However we have electric radiators if you are not keen on using The Rayburn....
There is no public transport so it’s easier with a car but there is a (very friendly) village shop and Tesco and Waitrose deliver to here. Tisbury and Gillingham train stations are 10-15 mins away. Lots of walks on the doorstep and the village is very friendly with a strong community. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Three dogs and one cat to look after. All very friendly.
Tegwyn, border collie, aged 11. Very fit and active but also happy to snooze. Loves playing football or fetch. She has fear anxiety due to being attacked by other dogs as a puppy so we keep her on the lead when out and away from other dogs. She also makes dragon noises at Nutmeg and Rosie when they get too close but is desperate to play with them. We just keep a calm eye on them and they all get along fine....
Rosie, 4 and Nutmeg, 2. Cavalier Spaniels, are the loveliest dogs. They like to snuggle up on you in the evening, but when out are proper dogs, running around and getting filthy. Leaving them is especially hard.
Chomsky, big neutered, grey and white Tom cat, 12, is very easy going and friendly. He often accompanies us on walks in the copse at the end of the garden. + More info
