Our Home & Location
Deeply rural and quiet and a rural idyll. Home is cosy, ancient and and full of character. The comforts of modern day living are very sensitively incorporated.
Bedroom Accommodation for house sitter /s will be one of the spare rooms which has its own shower room or bathroom. There is a lovely sitting room with an log burner and an open plan kitchen living dining room. All rooms have central heating . The house is surrounded by gardens and the farm.
We do also have a beutiful holiday letting house on the farm . Which will more than likely be unoccupied and will taking a holiday whist we are away unless arrangements have been made for its running which would be discussed in advance with any house sitter/s.
Albeit very private peaceful and rural there are two villages within 1.5 miles away with great community shops and Dartmouth is a just 15 min drive. Kingsbridge 20 mins and Totnes 25 mins drive. We are situated in the heart of the beautiful South Hams and in an area of outstanding Natural Beauty.
This home comes with 2 lovely dogs, a cat and a small flock of sheep.
The dogs are happy at home and on the farmland where there more than enough scope for varied and long walks with the livelier and youngest dog who is great company and loves roaming around with us on the farm.
Responsibilities & Pets
Babs and Nora love masses of love and affection. Babs is energetic and needs good daily walk /s and romp/s which are always on the farm. .. there are fantastic walks here so she is happy with life on the farm. She is not used to going anywhere else which is the way life is for her at present. Babs is very responsive to instruction. She is also an excellent guard dog so with this comes a responsibility to introduce her to visitors or anyone coming to the house with care. Once done, She is then brilliant and also is actually good and playful with children but under supervision as she is very excitable. She is not always good around stranger dogs so for peace of mind Babs meeting visiting dogs should be avoided.
Nora is heaven, she very happy but very old, loves everyone and sleeps lots but likes a little 5 minute walks and potter on the boingy lead is sensible now as she is a despite her age still a terrier and can get distracted and lost very quickly given fading sight and hearing....
Olly the cat get on with the dogs and Sleeps in the house in an area where there is access to a cat flap.
Dogs and cat are fed once a day. And get the odd dog biscuits as rewards and always a biscuit at Bed time.
Sheep . The sheep are a rare breed of Devon Longwool called Grey Face Dartmoor are all retired and need to be looked at least a couple of times a day.. morning , noon and night ideally . just a peer over the gate once looked properly at least twice each day will generally suffice. .. Most of these sheep now only a handful of them are very happy to be hand fed and love attention , it wont take long for them to clock you are looking after them . Another small and managable flock are coming to join them soon given these old ladies have have claimed their pension . In the winter they may all need a daily feed but detail /instructions will be given at the time. + More info
