Friendly cat-lover needed for our cats and their house
Hi there, we are Birthe & Paul and we live in Mayford, a small village near Woking, Surrey.
We are looking for a reliable cat-lover to house sit and look after our two cats while we are on holiday. We are looking for someone who has experience with caring for cats and who is available for a long weekend in June as well as 3 weeks in Dec-Jan. This would be covering the Christmas and New Year period and we'd be looking for commitment to this period now.
We have two cats – Bonnie & Clyde (brother & sister). Bonnie is very nervous around strangers and will need someone who is calm and patient to gain her trust. Clyde is accepting and easy to make friends.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a detached 4-bedroom house with a large kitchen/diner, modern bathrooms and a large landscaped garden. We are in a quiet rural location just outside Woking.
We are on the outskirts of a small village so most amenities will be a short car drive away, although there are two pubs and a village shop with Post Office within easy walking distance. There is a large secluded drive for off-road parking....
We have high-speed broadband, a Sonos surround sound music system and Satellite TV with Netflix, Amazon and SkyTV.
Nearby towns are Woking and Guildford, which have lots of restaurants, shops and cinemas.
There is a mainline station 5 min drive away with a direct line to London Waterloo (35 min). The house is 20 min drive from Guildford and a 10 min drive to Woking.
The house is secured with motion detecting video cameras both inside and outside. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Primary responsibility is the care of Bonnie & Clyde. They are both very affectionate but have vastly different personalities.
Clyde is very inquisitive and will be your friend in no time if you give him attention and hugs. Bonnie is very shy & nervous especially around strangers and Clyde can sometimes be a bit of a bully to her (though it’s just play and never malicious)....
They have a cat flap and are free to come and go as they please, although Bonnie usually stays around the house most of the time while Clyde is more adventurous. They never stay out for more than a day and always come home during the night or in the early morning.
They are used to having someone at home 24/7 and this will be the longest that we have left them alone, so we'd like someone who ideally will be at home for good periods during the day (for most days) to provide them with company. They both LOVE to play and enjoy interacting with humans.
They are fed twice a day (approx. 8.00am and 6.30pm) with the odd treat in between (your secret weapon). No litter trays as they both prefer to go outside.
We have raised them both with non-aggressive and positive re-enforcement. Meaning we never raise voices or ‘punish’ them as this is not effective.
The house sitter would need to be someone who is clean and tidy as our home is well maintained.
Other jobs include watering plants in the house and putting the bins out for collection. + More info
