Fur babies require a loving sitter in Surrey
My wife & I are looking for a sitter(s) for Poppy & Milo between Sunday 3rd March and Saturday 16th March 2019. Our pets have always been looked after by family although due to illness this is regrettably no longer an option. Whilst I accept that this is a long period of time before the sit is due to start, hopefully readers will appreciate that without a sitter we cannot go on the trip.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a detached house with off street car parking close to the A30. Its rear garden has the sun from late morning until sunset, is fully enclosed and low maintenance. We have high speed wi-fi, two lounges (both of which have Sky) and has a comfortable double room for our sitter(s) with a bathroom opposite providing a bath, shower, WC and hand basin. There is a downstairs cloakroom. The kitchen has all usual appliances, dishwasher, washing machine etc., a water cooler and a waste disposal system. We have a weekly cleaner who does the housework as long as things are tidy.
Bagshot is a large village (6000 residents) in the northwest corner of Surrey, of Saxon origin it prospered in the late 16th century when it was an important staging post between London, Southampton and the West Country. Due to its location it was used as a coaching stop with stables to provide coaches with fresh horses and inns for the passengers, many of which remain in existence today. The local area and particularly Bagshot Heath were the haunt of notorious highwaymen during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries such as William David (executed 1689) and Claude Duval (executed 1670)....
Situated close to junction 3 of the M3 and with the A30 (The Great South West Road) running through the village, we are conveniently situated for the neighbouring towns of Windsor, Ascot, Camberley and Guildford. The River Thames runs past Windsor and along the banks of Runnymede, site of the sealing of the Magna Carta in 1215. Much of the surrounding land is heath with extensive walks and cycle paths across and through it, we are blessed with a substantial area of Royal Estate at the end of our road, much favoured by dog walkers with a Royal residence situated within it occupied by Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex and his family.
There are two supermarkets in the village (Waitrose & Co-Op), two cafes (one with a paleo menu), five pubs, three Bangladeshi restaurants, two Chinese, two pizza shops, one exceptional Mediterranean restaurant, an Italian, a Miller & Carter steakhouse, a Beefeater and two sandwich shops, it is impossible to starve in Bagshot! + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Poppy & Milo are a brother & sister (Shiatzu & Yorkshire terrier cross) who are thirteen. They are fully vaccinated and chipped. They are fond of somebody being around all day and are rarely left on their own as I work from home. Used to being walked for an hour in the morning they will adjourn to one of their favoured spots for a good sleep allowing opportunity for them to be left for a few hours. They have their own distinctive personalities, love company and being cuddled.
Poppy is, and always has been, a nervous dog who is frightened of everything and really loves company close by simply as a source of comfort. She will follow you as you move around the house and is best kept on a lead when walking. Milo is a typical boy, happy on his own but also likes company. If walking in the woods (which is his favourite), he prefers to be off the lead but has some reduction in hearing so sometimes will not hear you if called. He loves routine and will happily settle for a sleep once he has been exercised....
Milo experienced pancreatitis a few years ago and follows a low fat gastro intestinal diet which has prevented any recurrence. They have three small meals per day and all pet foods will be provided. Our vets are local, know the dogs well and we have contingencies in place that should any unexpected trip to the surgery be required, no bills would have to be paid by the sitter. Milo will happily inform you when he expects things, he is a funny little dog with a big character and will demand to be let out when he decides its bed time, will badger you for his bedtime snack and will take himself off upstairs to settle down for the night quite happily on his own.
They have their own beds but will happily sleep on sofas, cushions or anywhere else they decide is appropriate. They are treasured and although now getting older and slower, organise the house with character just as much as they did when they were little.
All they need is somebody to visit, play and love them as much as they will love you. + More info
