February 2019 house sit commuting distance to London in leafy Surrey
I am a teacher and I live with my husband and my 2 daughters. We really love our pets and our preference is to have someone stay in our house to look after them rather than use kennels etc as we believe it’s less disruptive for them. We have used a house sitter in the past for this purpose. The dogs are really friendly sausage dogs (Daschunds) and they love human company, especially cuddles on the sofa! They don’t require much walking, as our garden is sufficient in size to give them enough exercise, but if you wish, they’re happy to go on walks too. Our cat likes to be outdoors or he spends his time in a neighbour’s house, so you won’t see much of him. When he does return home, usually every night, he likes some dog-free human attention. The fish live in an outside pond and only require feeding a few times a week. We live in a lovely area of Surrey. It’s surrounded by beautiful countryside, but also very convenient to get to London, with a train station within easy walking distance. We are looking for a house sitter who in our absence will treat our home and our pets with the tender, loving care they deserve.
Our Home & Location
Our home is in a beautiful area of Surrey, surrounded by countryside. It is in a very quiet area and has 7 bedrooms and a large garden. We also have a heated indoor swimming pool. Within walking distance is a local convenience store, post office, pet supplies store, a few good restaurants and a pub. A short drive away there is an Asda superstore and a little further away ( 5 miles approximately) are the towns of Epsom, Reigate, Redhill and Sutton, all with a good choice of shops. There are lots of walking opportunities locally, as well as Epsom Downs, famous for it’s horse racing. The local train station (10 minutes walk) has regular trains to London, so if you wanted the opportunity to do some London sightseeing this is also possible.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our dogs have 2 feeds a day 9am & 5pm approximately. I have electronic feeders which can be set if required. Morris (15years) has some medication (for mild arthritis) which is added to his morning feed. Otherwise, they just need letting out regularly to go to the toilet.
Our cat has his food bowl topped up when it’s empty, usually about once a day. We also put his cat flap on ‘in only’ to make him stay in at night....
Our fish need a handful of fish food thrown into the pond a few times a week.
The house needs to be kept in a tidy & clean state. There is a regular bin collection every Wednesday. Some plants indoors and outdoors may need to be watered and the grass may need cutting depending on the time of year & length of stay, a lawn mower is available. The house alarm should be set when the house is left unattended & all doors & windows locked. + More info
