Animal sitting assignment in lovely country setting - would suit fit, kind, animal-loving couple with car who enjoy home life
We are a couple in our 50s with two dogs and two cats who work mostly from home, so our animals are used to having company around most of the time. Our house is in a lovely rural position with the National Trust on our boundaries and 5 mins away by car from the shops.
Our Home & Location
We have a lovely home, with "rural" WiFi throughout the house, Sky TV and gas central heating, and the option of a real fire. Deer, badgers, foxes and squirrels are all regular inhabitants/visitors to the woods, quarry and fields around our house. The birds are more cautious with two cats around, but we do hear owls and frequently see woodpeckers in the lawn and the buzzards nested in our trees this year and are frequent visitors overhead. Reigate town centre is only 5 mins away by car, and offers a variety of coffee bars, clothes shops, gift shops and restaurants, with many lovely country pubs on the outskirts. We have an amazing selection of walks on our doorstep in the National Trust area of the Surrey Downs and Pilgrims Way.
Responsibilities & Pets
We are looking for a couple of experienced dog sitters to provide tender loving care to our animals, and especially our 3 year old Springer spaniel who whilst outwardly healthy, has congenital kidney disease. This means she needs feeding four times a day with home cooked, (already cooked, portioned and pre-frozen) meals and medicines and she is an early riser. She and our other dog, a 9 year old Springer, play together inside and wonder about outside with us, are fully socialised and good with other dogs. Our dogs typically get two 30 min walks a day as very long walks (more than an hour) are not good for renal dogs. Despite feeding our cats tinned wet food twice a day, they do hunt so occasionally you will have to remove their prey "takeaways" from the house. All four animals are very social, people loving, strong characters and very entertaining in their own ways.
