Willow the dog needs a companion
My husband, Ken, and I split our lives between California, England and France. We love to travel and have pet babies in the USA and our new dog to our family, Willow, who travels with us. I am a writer and can work from anywhere. Ken is a computer genius. I first became familiar with Trusted Housesitters as a house sitter myself. So, I know what it feels like to care for someone's darling pet "child" and house. Knowing what is involved makes it easier for me to explain needs and wants and to open our homes and hearts to new pet sitting friends.
Our Home & Location
We bought our house in Otterton a few years ago. We have done a lot of work making it comfortable and welcoming. Our home is on 3 levels, so you must not mind stairs. We are located close to the South West Coastal Path where you can enjoy lots of walks. The city of Exeter is about 25 minutes away by car. The closest airport is Exeter, followed by Bristol. A car is not essential in our area. There is an excellent train service from Exeter and Honiton connecting to major cities. We also have a superb bus service between our villlage and Exmouth, Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton.
Our home is a fabulous base from which to explore the river walks connecting villages and the sea, and the coastal walks. The river path runs behind Otterton Mill and our house providing an easy flat walk to Budleigh Salterton – the town and the beaches. Experience natural beauty and an abundance of wild life along the trail. This is a bird-watching and hiking paradise. To access the Coastal Path all you need to do is go out of the front and turn right up Church Hill. The front of our property looks out over the pretty courtyard from where the village church and graveyard can be seen. With the Cathedral City of Exeter only 30 minutes away, Dartmoor only a 45 minute drive away, and the fossil beaches of Charmouth and Lyme Regis 40 minutes away, you couldn’t want for a better holiday base.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our darling, Willow, needs someone to look after her while I, her mummy, Belinda makes a short notice trip to Ireland. Willow is not used to being without me yet, so our Willow sitter will need to give her lots of love and attention and skype or FaceTime with me while I'm away.
We expect our sitters to keep the house clean and tidy, and make sure it is clean when we return. We also want sitters to water any plants we might have....
We adopted Willow a year ago. She is a delightful, very friendly and adorable Cockapoo. She loves to run but won't always come back when called, particularly if there is a squirrel or rabbit to chase, so you need to keep her on leash while walking her.
We cannot understand why anyone would have given Willow up for adoption, but we are very happy they did! Willow likes to be walked twice a day. She typically goes for about an hour or two each walk. She is good at staying home and minding the house while you go out and enjoy yourselves. We prefer Willow not to be left alone for more than 4 hours. She loves going places with us, so you could always take her with you on adventures. Willow is great with other dogs and small children. + More info
