Cotswold home and 2 small dogs (horse care optional)
Hello, we live in the beautiful Cotswolds, with our teenage daughter, two small dogs, two horses, plus 2 miniature Shetlands!
Mark is an ex Army officer and we've lived around the world before settling here in Gloucestershire 10 years ago....
We are primarily looking for someone to care for our dogs, if you are able to look after the horses too this is a bonus! However we can arrange for the horses to be looked after separately if required. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our home is a 200 year old converted stable block. It has a large kitchen, dining room, sitting room, a small study and boot room. It has three bedrooms and a large bathroom. The property is all on one level. We are based in Westonbirt, which has the wonderful Arboretum for you to wander around, complete with treetop walkways, a cafe and shop. At the end of our road is the Hare and Hounds Hotel and Bar for a tasty meal out. We are also next to Westonbirt girls school, a magnificent grade 1 listed building with ornate gardens open to the public during school holidays. We are a 5 minute drive from Tetbury, a beautiful small Cotswolds market town, with numerous antique shops, cafes, restaurants and the Prince of Wales' shop Highgrove. We are also only 2 miles from Highgrove itself, where Prince Charles resides. Further afield we have the beautiful Cotswold town of Cirencester (just a 20 min drive north) or a 40 minute drive south takes you to the Georgian city of Bath. We are within a 15 minute drive to both the Badminton estate and Gatcombe ( where Princess Anne lives) both of which hold famous horse trials each year. It is also possible to get the train from Kemble train station ( 15min drive) to London and this takes about one and a half hours.
Responsibilities & Pets
We have two adorable small dogs, Willow is a Bischon x Jack Russel she's very gentle and Badger who is a Norfolk terrier cross, he's just 12months old and is terribly sweet and loving. They need to be fed morning and night and walked in the morning ( we have Westonbirt Arboretum on our doorstep for this). They don't need you to be around all day but they do enjoy company and would love to join you on occasional trips out!
For those happy to look after our horses they are a 2 minute drive away, (or 15 min walk through Westonbirt school grounds), we have Wellington, a 16'3hh gelding and Frosty, our daughter's 15hh pony, they live in our 5 acre paddock. We have stabling and a school. The horses need to be visited morning and night - they will be living out, but they will need to be brought into their stables, checked over, maybe have their rugs changed, they will need to be fed and have their hooves picked out. This usually takes 30-40 mins morning and night. Depending on your experience you may be able to exercise them in our school if you wish. They are both very kind, gentle horses. We also have 2 miniature Shetlands who are rather cheeky, they live out and need very little care, just keep an eye out for any problems.
