Farmhouse in the Cotswolds
We are a family of ten - 2 adults, 3 children (ages 6, 9 and 11), 3 dogs and 2 kittens. My husband is a farmer and we moved into his family’s farmhouse coming up for two years ago. We have lots of family nearby but would love to find sitters that would enable us to leave our pets at home and also know that the house is being looked after.
Our Home & Location
We have a big kitchen, dining room, utility, separate sitting room, 6/7 bedrooms - 3 of which are spare - and two bathrooms (neither of which have a functioning shower). It’s not a glamorous house but it is perfectly comfortable and the WiFi is good (just not high speed!). We are down a drive with no immediate neighbours but only ten minutes walk from the centre of Bourton on the Water. There are several footpaths accessible straight from the garden.
The house is not easy during the winter as our central heating and hot water system is powered by a wood and straw boiler located outside. Whoever comes to stay will need to be capable of loading this about three times a day. There will be plenty of wood for this and also for the wood burner in the kitchen.
Responsibilities & Pets
We have three dogs but our elderly terrier will go to James’ parents. That leaves one Labrador called Peggy and one terrier called Bridget, both of whom are 2. We also have two cats, just coming up to 1 year old. They eat outside and go outside at night but do like to come in and have a sleep in the kitchen during the day. All of these animals will need feeding and the dogs will need walking.
