House & Pet sit in the Cotswolds
Hi, we are the Richards family. There is me, Ali, my husband, Ja and our four children, Jack, Charlie, Ben and Rebecca. I say children but really they are all young adults now! Jack is 23, Charlie 20, Ben 18 and Rebecca 15! We have recently bought a house in Italy so are spending more time over there in the school holidays. We are therefore looking for house sitters who will come and look after our gorgeous dog, Molly, so that she can stay in her own environment. Molly is the easiest dog I have ever known! She has a very gentle nature and is calm and well behaved. She loves company but is also very good if you need to leave her to go out for a few hours. She is advanced in years on paper but is ageing very well!!
Our Home & Location
Our home is in a small town called Minchinhampton in Gloucestershire. It is a beautiful area on the top of a hill. A five minute walk takes you to a huge common from where you can see amazing views all around. From May to November some local people have rights to graze their cows on the common so you may come across varying breeds including the gorgeous, hairy highland cattle! There are also some horses with their friend the donkey who roam around enjoying the wide open spaces. There are two pubs on the common which can provide useful destinations on your walk! Our house is situated in a quiet close. We are tucked up at the end so have a good private position. Downstairs there is a very large kitchen dining room, a kids tv/playroom, sitting room, study, utility room and downstairs shower room. On the first floor you will find four double bedrooms, one with an ensuite and a family bathroom. On the top floor there are two further double bedrooms and a small bathroom with a toilet and sink. There is a good sized flat garden with a decking area with table and chairs. Minchinhampton is a small town but is well resourced. There is an excellent butcher which sources local meat and a small general store. We have a dairy providing milk and cheese produced in Minchinhampton which is also a lovely little cafe. The Kitchen is an excellent cafe/restaurant serving home made cakes! Within a ten minute drive you can access Stroud where there are several large supermarkets and the station where there is a direct line to London in one direction, Cheltenham in the other. Stroud has a cinema and a leisure centre where you can swim, play tennis or squash or go to the gym amongst many other activities. Twenty minutes away is Cirencester which is a lovely town for a mooch having interesting shops and lots of good restaurants. Nailsworth, five minutes down the hill from us, is another good town for really intersting shops and good restaurants. There is also a large supermarket here. You can access Bristol in about 45 minutes by car and Cheltenham 40 minutes the other way!! If you enjoy walking, there are many fantastic walks in the Cotswold countryside.
Responsibilities & Pets
The main responsibility would be looking after Molly. This just involves feeding her twice a day and giving her a walk. Although Molly is 13 she is still very spritely and doing well for her age so enjoys a good walk. During the summer months we would also like the garden to be looked after, mowing the lawn and watering the plants. Please ensure the house is cleaned before we return.
