3 bedroom cottage built in 1782 in North Yorkshire Village- with 2 collies
My wife Nicki and I live in our pretty 2 storey cottage built in 1782 with our dogs Inca and Milo.
We work as Physiotherapists within the National Health Service but like to be active on our days off. We enjoy walking, hiking and running but also a cozy pub at the end of it!
I am from Ireland which means trips home for weddings and celebrations which is why we have joined Trusted House Sitters. We would love for our dogs, Inca and Milo, to be able to stay at home while we are away....
Inca and Milo are both rescue dogs and, like all collies, love going for walks. The beautiful Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors are very close by and there are endless walks to choose from. Of course, living in a village, there are a few walks right on our doorstep. The dogs normally have 3 walks per day. One that lasts 45 minutes and 2 shorter walks. We then take them out for a quick toilet break before bed. They are left for up to 6 hours during the week so you can leave them at home if you decide to explore the area without them. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our house is a 3 bedroom cottage built in 1782. The village shop/ post office is directly next door and the cosy village pub is 100 yards away (www.blackhorseinnkirkbyfleetham.com)
The spacious village green is to the front of the house and there is a small private garden to the side.
Downstairs is our decent sized kitchen (where the dogs sleep), entrance hall (the dogs have access to this also when we are out), cosy lounge with a woodburning stove (logs provided) and dining room with a large table with 6 chairs. Upstairs consists of the bathroom with electric shower, 2 good sized bedrooms with double beds and a smaller room with a day/single bed which is easily converted to another double bed....
The picturesque Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors National Park are only a short drive away and a one hour drive will get you to a beach.
Bedale is our closest market town only 5 miles away and has lots of shops, pubs and restaurants. Northallerton is 7 miles away with a busy high street and a large market every Wednesday and Saturday.
Northallerton train station is on the East Coast main train line with trains to York taking approximately 25 minutes, Durham in 28 minutes and Newcastle in approximately 45 minutes.
The A1 (M) is only 2 miles from our house. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Obvious responsibilities are walking and feeding Inca and Milo.
Inca was rescued 3 years ago and is very laid back in the house and likes to snuggle on the sofa. She is much more high energy outside and loves to herd everything. This means that she needs to be on the lead around other dogs and livestock....
Milo was rescued 1 year ago and had a tough start to life. When he arrived with us he had lost 1/3 of his body weight and a good bit of his fur. He can be nervous in the house but will relax next to the sofa or in his bed. He loves going for walks and comes out of his shell to have a good run around. He also needs to be on lead around dogs, livestock or any loud noises!
It is very important to enjoy our house like its your own, cosy up on the sofa with the the log burner crackling in the background and explore the beautiful countryside at your leisure. + More info
