Pets & Home Care - Craven Family
I am a busy professional woman with three children. Originally from Singapore, I still have family residing there, and from time to time travel be with them in Singapore and elsewhere. Hence the desire for a sitter, given that the house will otherwise be empty for the periods we're away. Our house is newly rebuilt and easy to maintain. We have three pets: a cat (neutered, who lives indoors); a rabbit (who lives in a hutch in the garage, though when the weather is good we take him out to a run outside) and a dwarf hamster. They are all 'low maintenance'. For the cat in particular we would prefer not to have to leave her in a cattery, as she is settled at home.
Our Home & Location
The house is large and detached with a big south facing garden (a gardener comes regularly to cut the lawn and tidy up). The sitters will have their own bedroom with adjacent bathroom. The house is located in Alwoodley, north Leeds, around 20 minutes drive from Leeds' city centre and 25 minutes from Harrogate and there is a regular bus service between the two with a 15-20 minute walk between the house and the bus stop. The house has a large drive so can accommodate off street parking.
Responsibilities & Pets
Keeping house clean, tidy and undamaged. We have cleaners who come in once a week, subject to arrangements.
Regular care (food, fresh water, play) for an affectionate and curious 1-yr old tortoiseshell cat (Lola), a lively hamster with a sweet temperament (Snowflake) , and an independent bunny (Pinocchio)....
Cat strictly indoors (house fronts busy road). Rabbit stays usually in hutch kept in garage; he can be put in outdoor run, weather permitting, for a few hours then returned to hutch in evening. Ensure the cover for the run is securely in place as the rabbit can be vulnerable to predators including foxes. Please use rabbit carrier to transport from hutch to run, and back. Feel free to play with the hamster upstairs but keep entirely away from the cat [Tip: Close living room doors to contain cat, if necessary. Hamster cage will be left in house bathroom upstairs - ALWAYS keep bathroom doors shut to prevent "accidental cat access"!!]
Please collect any mail from postbox outside and leave aside in a tidy stack on (white) floating drawer unit in kitchen corner.
House gates are electric, close automatically after a couple of minutes and controlled by key pads and / or remote key fob (which we shall leave with you). For security reasons, please keep gates closed at all times apart from access needs.
Please set the house alarm at all times when you are away from the premises, ensuring all doors and windows are securely fastened / locked. Small pets' movements will not trigger alarm :)
We would advise that the heavier wooden blinds extending over the larger windows and bi-fold doors are kept down due to their weight (and for security). The slats can be adjusted for light, of course. Blinds extending over smaller windows can be pulled up, if you wish.
I'm sure more things will come to mind over time, but I'll stop here for now! + More info
