Lovely cat who comes with her own house in idyllic countryside!
We are Colin and Corinne, now semi-retired from origial careers in television. We moved from London to this lovely Welsh borders countryside twelve years ago, me (Corinne), having retrained as a homeopath. We have one extremely sweet tabby, Beti, who is now an old lady, (but amazing for her 21 years). She dotes on company, well padded laps and, despite being deaf, enjoys a bit of feline conversation. We need to feel Beti is happy while we're away so would be very grateful to cat-loving, country-loving people who would like to come and enjoy our home.
Our Home & Location
We live in a really secluded spot of idlyllic countryside on the side of a hill on the Welsh borders. We're 11 miles from Monmouth, 12 miles from Ross on Wye, 15 miles from the cathedral city of Hereford and about 15 from Abergavenny. Plenty to see and explore in the environs! We have a four bedroomed Victorian house, set in 2 acres of grounds comprising garden and orchard. We have spacious rooms with good light and a baby grand piano. (We are both musicians). We live on a hill common; the lane past our house only leads to a farm so you get only one or two vehicles going past a day. It's a very safe area. There are about a dozen scattered houses in our little enclave so you're not completely alone! You would enjoy it here if you like country walks (from the door) and appreciate peace and quiet. You can explore the nearby villages of Skenfrith and Grosmont, both with castles and lovely churches. Our house is on a beautiful hill where white horses and sheep roam free. From the top you can see seven counties. There are plenty of pubs not too far away but don't expect rows of shops! There are three small village shops, each about 15 minutes away by car. It's a friendly place which will welcome you. As will Beti...
Responsibilities & Pets
We would like some nice people who will make a bit of a fuss of our cat. Responsibilities are just to feed, water and look after her generally. Being 21 years old she sleeps much of the time and is now wary of going outside unless you're in the garden with her. So she mostly stays indoors and only asks to be let out if she's sure it's warm and sunny. Mostly, she's very well but has very occasional health wobbles (twice or three times a year) which we know how to deal with and could pass this info onto you. She is fine being left alone for hours at a time, having a litter tray in the lobby. But she does like company and knowing people are generally around to do her bidding. She is very good at telling you what she wants - once you get to speak her language!
