Chameleon near Brighton South England
Our home is in the centre of the little town Burgess Hill near Brighton, yet perfectly quiet and next to a park, within walking distance to the train station and bus stops. The train will take you within one hour to the city centre of London and in 15 minutes to the beaches of Brighton. I am a single mum with a teenage daughter and we are house-sitters ourselves and love travelling. We regularly need a reliable person or couple to look after our own pet - a chameleon girl - basically during all school holidays. "Lizzie" only needs a few minutes attention in the morning and a few minutes in the evening, and she is really easy to take care of. However, you must also be able to look after her live food, too - worms and crickets - and keep them alive and well. Therefore, please do not apply if you have an insectophobia and have never yet touched a worm!
Our Home & Location
We are renting a 2 bedroom unit in a six-unit building, on the first floor (no lift), with a balcony overlooking an old church and a nice park with lots of sporting facilities such as tennis courts, skate park, fitness trail, and cricket grounds. During the school holidays there are often events, parties and fairs in this park. The town centre is right behind the church! It is just 5 minutes walk to all the shops, banks and restaurants, and 10 minutes walk to the train station and 5 minutes to the bus stop. If you come by car you will have a dedicated resident's car parking spot. Alternatively, you can borrow my bicycle to explore the surroundings. Our unit is modern and stylish, with all new furniture. It has two double bedrooms, a large bathroom with a shower over bath, living/dining room including TV with Netflix, unlimited high-speed Internet, and a large kitchen where Lizzie resides, because it is always warm there. Burgess Hill has a cinema, 52 restaurants and a little theatre. It features a variety of walking paths and a lovely landscape.
Responsibilities & Pets
Lizzie needs feeding twice a day and her vivarium needs to be cleaned once a week. You will need to spray water on the plants in Lizzie's vivarium twice a day, as chameleons don't drink from bowls, but lick water drops from leaves. It is important to monitor the temperature and turn on and off the heat lamp as needed and/or bring Lizzie to her outdoor playground on warm days and back in for the night night. You can also let Lizzie go for walk on your arm and around the house, but always under supervision only. Other duties: Please water the plants (just a few hardy ones) and keep our home clean. No loud parties and please be considerate towards our neighbours.
