Suffolk Cottage and two terriers
We are Ian and Tracey and our two dogs have been with us since they were a year old. We love to travel and take the dogs with us when we can, usually when we are away in this country in our motorhome. On the occasions when we fly on holiday, or take the motorhome abroad, we need someone to love our two little ones in the comfort of their own home. We are in our fifties with grown up children and grandchildren, who are such a blessing! Ian is semi retired and Tracey has a full time job and a business as a massage therapist.
Our Home & Location
Our house is an 1860's Suffolk cottage, with a sympathetic extension that we added about six years ago. It is a four bedroom house; two of the rooms are ensuite and used, when we are here, for bed and breakfast guests - both kingsize, one of these rooms would be available for the sitters use. For those who prefer a bath rather than a shower there is a spacious bathroom with roll top bath. We have a lovely kitchen at the centre of the house and a double sided wood burner facing into the lounge and dining room for those colder evenings (both these rooms also have underfloor heating). French doors from the lounge open onto a sunny patio with a view of the back garden. We have lots of parking at the front of the house.
Our village is rural but only 4 miles from the centre of Ipswich, with its historic docks and buildings. Ipswich also has a wide variety of restaurants, shops, two theatres and two cinemas. The village has a pub The Barley Mow (as the name suggests it is literally two minutes from our front door!) serving draft beers and pub meals. We also have our own golf course in the village and visitors are welcome to play the 18 hole course or the par 3, for a fee; there is a good restaurant at the club. The adjacent villages also have a good choice of excellent restaurants. We have some lovely walks from the door....
The market town of Woodbridge is a short drive away, as is the beautiful Suffolk heritage coast with seaside towns such as Aldeburgh and Southwold. Norwich is about an hours drive north. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We would like our sitters to feel really at home so if they would like to do a bit of gardening they would be most welcome :) Most importantly we want our dogs to feel loved and well looked after - they love a cuddle and a walk! Having our home occupied while we are away is an added bonus. The sitters can be safe in the knowledge that many of our neighbours would be on hand to assist in an emergency.
Benji is the boy dog and can sometimes be a bit territorial, but once he realises you are not a threat then he is very loving. He is a superb door bell! Flossie is the little girl and an absolute sweetie. They like to sleep on the bed! Neither dog currently has any medical conditions. The only set routine they have is their tea at 4pm; they will ask you for it if you don't realise what the time is. We would rather that they were not left alone for more than 4 hours at a time.
