House sitter required for 2 cats - Leeds in October for 3 weeks
Hi, our names are Nick and Vic. We are in our 40's and been married for over 20 years. We both work for the NHS, Nick is an IT specialist and Vic works in Haematology. Neither of us has family close by.
In 2015 we said our final goodbye to 20 year old Freda cat, having had her from 6weeks old. Needless to say we were heartbroken and decided that we would never have another cat... 12 months later we realised that the house wasn't a home without a furry face in it so we here we are looking for a sitter for our 2 new family members....
Freda was cared for by sitters from this website for the last 2 years of her life - we met some fabulous people and would love Dizzy & Heidi to experience the same level of care. We have created a new 'guide book for sitters' and would love to develop a good relationship with a small 'pool' of sitters for the girls. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our home is a Victorian terraced house, situated 8 miles South East of Leeds in the village of Garforth. It is a 3 bedroomed house on 4 floors. We have a shower room on the first floor, 2 wood burning stoves, wifi and a dishwasher. We have a large double guest bedroom for sitters, so this sit is suitable for a single person or a couple. We have an extensive DVD collection along with access to Netflix for those cooler nights infront of the fire... But on the warmer evenings you can take advantage of our enclosed rear yard with patio furniture and outdoor lighting, heating and hot tub (certain times of the year) or stroll onto the high street and enjoy our local restaurants and pubs. Garforth has excellent links to Leeds with 2 train stations and plenty of bus routes . Bus stops are just a 1 minute walk away. The station is approx. 8minutes away where you can travel to Leeds and York. There are plenty of shops and supermarkets in this large village along with cafes, we are a 2 minute walk onto the high street.
You are close to some cities but there is plenty of countryside around with lots of walking either on door step or just a short ride away. We also have great cycle routes in the area - Nick is a keen cyclist.
Responsibilities & Pets
Dizzy and Heidi are 14 years old, although they don't look it or act like it. They are rescue cats from Yorkshire Cat Rescue. They had been there a while since homing older cats is quite difficult. I don't know why...Dizzy is very out going and has a huge lovable personality but likes to keep her belly full of food at all times! Heidi is a little more reserved, she will come to you when she is ready but is the sweetest little thing with the softest fur. We don't know a lot about their past, they were surrendered to the rescue as their previous owner was too ill to care for them but they were definitely well looked after. They don't have any behavioural issues but they do like to 'talk' to you. Due to their lives being turned upside down last year with a 2 month stay in a rescue centre we don't want to put them in a cattery and would rather they stayed where they felt safe.
They are indoor cats and always have been so they have no road sense and cannot be allowed out. They are easy to look after with just a cat litter tray in the basement and feeding small amounts 3 times a day. They have regular visits to the Vet for kitty MOTs so we would not anticipate any problems during the near future but we have a vet in the village and we are contactable by 'messenger', phone, email and skype whilst on holiday. We also leave emergency contact details for local friends who and help/advise.
