House sitter required for greyhound cat and fish
I have a beautiful rescued greyhound and cat and two fish that need regular short term sitting throughout the year. Due to my dog's traumatic past he is very timid when he first meets people. He is used to sitters but these are people he is familiar with and he is then more than happy for me to leave. I prefer to be with the sitter/s for the first day/night so that he gets to know you and you him or if you are local you are welcome to come and meet him before the sit. My cat is an easy boy who likes to be let in and out during the day. When the cat is in he has his own bedroom (with en suite!) so he can sleep and relax and he lets you know when he wants to go out but will come in when called before it gets dark. He then stays in for the night but has the run of the house once the dog goes to bed in the kitchen at night. He is happy to be left in the house for up to 3 hours. As he is rather large I prefer he does not go in a sitters car. He is a very happy and affectionate dog but likes his routine. Anyone who would like to come and meet him would be very welcome for future sits. I would like to be able to go away frequently so having back up sitters would be wonderful. My house is a self build and is very beamed and vaulted ceilings, underfloor heating set in a beautiful woodland area with plenty of private parking.
Our Home & Location
I built my detached cottage ten years ago in a beautiful woodland setting. It has underfloor heating with stone floors, a woodburning stove in an inglenook fireplace. The living room has a high vaulted beamed ceiling as does the upstairs floor. It is a unique build specially designed to fit into the wonderful outdoor setting. Whilst very private it is not isolated and is on a sought after lane with very friendly neighbours. It has a large driveway and the house is set back from the road. Deer and pheasant are regular visitors. It is a peaceful retreat from busy towns. It has two acres of it's own land but adjoins approximately 9 more acres of woodland. There are many owls, bats, foxes and I keep bees but they won't need any attention.
Responsibilities & Pets
Two or three short but quite fast walks for Rudy the dog a day, two meals a day for him. Being an ex racer and able to reach speeds of up to 40mph, Rudy is not allowed off the lead at any time. Merlin the cat goes in and out through the day but must be in before it gets dark, Feeding of him 4 x day and feeding of fish once a day. Cleaning of litter tray once a day, cleaning of Rudy's small back yard once a day. He needs to meet the sitter/s before I leave him for a visit so that he can get to know them but I am very happy to be here for a day and night before I leave. He is very gentle but very timid at first. He and the cat are usually kept separate for the time being but they are safe to meet in a supervised way.
