Carr's from the garden
we are not keen to board our pets, rather they have a continuity of home life while we take a break.
As we have 3 dogs we think it would be preferable for a couple to come and stay as we think one person would find walking the 3 dogs challenging. They only are walked on leads but have the freedom of the secured paddock.
Our Home & Location
.Carrs Cottage is a 3 bedroomed house in the lovely Lincolnshire market town of Alford. Our property is situated on the periphery of the town, just 5 minutes walk from the town-centre. It is very quiet, very private. We have a securely fenced garden and a separate dog paddock. The cottage is surrounded by fields and beautiful trees.
We have a car port where you can lodge your car (or use our second car - insurance will be sorted before your arrival if you wish to use it)
Alford has a market twice a week and benefits of variety of shops, post office, GP surgery, Dentists, hairdressers, vet and pharmacy but no airport nor train station but busses in abundance!
Skegness (a favorite British holiday destination) is less than 30 minutes away, has restaurants, cafes, boutiques, loads of entertainment places and a Thereat. The white sandy beaches are spectacular! also similar in Mapplethorpe, 20 minutes away, has many places to eat, shop and enjoy and again beautiful beach!
North of Alford is Louth, the main market town with a fabulous church to visit! The Church has the highest diocese spire in Britain! Louth has a variety of ‘old fashion’ Lincolnshire shops and boutiques! A street Market, 3 times a week, must be visited, fantastic choice of food, clothes, antiques, art, flowers and plants, wood turning etc..
Nearby are the Wolds and the fascinating scenery of endless cultivated fields. Not too far is the historic city of Lincoln, about one-hour drive from Alford, with its famous Cathedral, a visit is a must!
Our 3 dogs are from Greece! They were rescued and rehomed with us. All 3 came with physical and psychological baggage. They are mostly quiet and obedient especially when shaking a biscuit tin! They have had a traumatic past but they do enjoy their soft bedding, their cushy life, the plentiful of food and of course our company. They are mostly well behaved however they are not used to any children under the age of 14.
The cats love their freedom, they have a cat flap and live the life of their dreams! But I like to have them safely tucked in at night.
Responsibilities & Pets
principally provide a substitute 'parent role' to the animals, walk them twice a day (very manageable walk around the cottage, no car needed) and perhaps use a ride-on mower to keep the grass down to a manageable level.
