Sitter Required in a Rural Village Property for 2 Dogs (Storm & Smidge), 1 Cat (Pip) and a Shetland Pony (Doodles!)
We are a family of 4 who are going away for Christmas so we need somebody to look after our troop of animals for us! I have my own business building websites, my wife is a viewing specialist with an estate agent, Izzy is 9 and goes to the local village school, whereas Rory is 2 and a boy so just tears around screaming for most of the day! We all love our animals and so we're hoping to find someone to look after them whilst we are away. If we know that they are in safe hands whilst we are gone then we will be able to relax and enjoy ourselves rather than worrying that they are okay.
Our Home & Location
We live in a 3 bedroom mid-terrace in a little Rural village called Charlwood in Surrey.
We have a brand new double oven so if you did want to make a full on Christmas meal here then that is perfectly possible. Equally, if you wanted to go out for the day then this isn't an issue either, the dogs are used to being left when we go to work....
We have high speed internet, Sky tv with full Sports, Movies etc, you can also use our Netflix account. Kitchen features everything you would expect including Fridge/Freezer, oven, grill, microwave, dishwasher as well as a combi washer dryer. Clothes horses are also available. Upstairs is a bathroom (with bath) plus the master bedroom has a shower with ensuite.
The road itself is beautiful with only 16 houses in a private settlement overlooking a pond complete with ducks and a very short walk (few hundred metres) to a Windmill (which is open for public viewings some Sundays) which has Doodles living next to it in his field.
Charlwood itself has 2 pubs (both very Country Pubs), the Half Moon, the Charlwood an excellent village cafe as well as a local corner shop that has pretty much anything you could wish for if you don't have time to go into town. All of these are within walking distance although a car is recommended as being a rural location, anything else you would need to drive to.
A huge Tesco Extra is within driving distance (5-10 minutes) and you are also within driving distance of Crawley should you wish to go shopping or go to the cinema. It is about a 20 minute drive from Tilgate park which features a 50m swimming pool, a huge gym, golf course, walking, small animal wildlife park, water sports and is well worth a visit.
If like us you are the outdoor type then there is also plenty of enjoyment to be had in our garden (with use of either our Gas or Charcoal BBQ) as well as the amazing countryside walks that can be undertaken around the local area. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Pip the cat is not especially sociable and so you just need to leave food and water out for him. We don't have a cat flap so we usually let him out at night and he comes back in the morning and comes in and out throughout the day to suit depending on your plans.
Storm & Smidge require feeding twice a day and will require exercising although this is weather dependent, we don't expect someone to walk them in the pouring rain! We tend to take them to see Doodles in the morning (or evening if it suits) as this is a few hundred metres away and then they can run around in the field. They both love walking and running - even the little one can run for well over 10 miles. There is a lovely walk through the nearby woods that takes approximately 45 mins that is perfect and is beautiful in the winter, particularly if there is a sprinkling of snow....
Doodles needs checking on at least once a day (we normally take him an apple or carrot) so that his water can be topped up/the ice broken on top if it is cold enough. Unfortunately there is no trough so we have to manually fill up his bucket from the tap. In the winter his water only really needs topping up every 3-4 days although the ice may need breaking every day if it is cold. His poo also needs picking up at least every 4 days and transported to the muck heap in the corner of the field using the wheelbarrow provided. He is a Shetland so he doesn't poo that much fortunately! + More info
