London - friendly cat and two guinea pigs - looking for a short break Xmas sitter
We are looking for someone to help feed and care for our cat and ginger pigs at our home in London for a few days while we are away seeing family in France.
Having had a nightmare before with a guinea pig getting lost by the pet shop charged with looking after her and now also have a well behaved young cat, we are looking for someone who can stay in the house to keep them company while we take a family holiday.
Our Home & Location
We live in Earlsfield, a lovely suburb of London filled with green spaces and Victorian terraced houses. From the station it is only a 15-20 minute ride into Central London - so you are close the hustle and bustle but not living with it on your doorstep.
Our house is well laid out with an open plan ground floor, small garden that is lovely little sun trap. We also have four bedrooms (the master, two children's rooms and a spare room), a playroom, four bathrooms. Inside we have a cable broadband, decent TV with SKY HD plus Apple TV running Netflix and NowTV for movies....
We are a short walk from Wandsworth Common or King George's Park. For retail, food or drink the Southside shopping centre is really close and has everything you would need from coffee shops and restaurants to a department store, 4DX cinema, a Sainsbury's and a Waitrose.
There are plenty of buses and we are about 15 minute walk down the hill to Earlsfield and Wandsworth Town stations which both run into London Waterloo.
A little further out takes you into Clapham, Fulham, Putney or Wimbledon and onward connections via Clapham Junction into Central london + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Key responsibilities are the twice daily feeding and watering of our cat Artemis and two guinea pigs, Noodle and Rocket. Other than that and letting Artemis out it is pretty relaxed.
Artemis is a really relaxed and friendly cat. My father-in-law was down earlier this summer and having never met him before, Artemis came straight up to him and slept next to him on the sofa for a couple of hours while my father in law read the newspaper. We also had a house sitter for two weeks between 22 July and 5 August last summer and he was apparently a great companion during that sit too....
He was a rescue cat from Battersea that we picked up just before Christmas last year. He spent the first couple of months in the house to get used to us and a new place but since we have started letting him out he has just become more chilled. He has a little friend (small neighbourhood black cat) and they seem to generally mess around outside together. He can be very cuddly at time but also loves chasing a little ball around the house - almost like a dog.
Noodle and Rocket joined us a couple of years ago (long story but pet shop lost our last guinea pig Womble and offered these two as compensation!). Since we brought Artemis home they do not spend as much time out of their cage but they seem to like each other and chirp every time we head towards their room. + More info
