London Islington flat and dog sitter over Christmas period
We are a professional couple living in our flat in Islington, London with our 1 year old Lagotto Romagnolo (Italian Water Dog) Edith. We are looking for someone to house sit whilst we're away, looking after the dog and watering the plants if they need it.
Our Home & Location
We live in the centre of London (zone 1). The nearest tube station is Angel (10 minutes walk) with Highbury&Islington (15minutes) and Kings Cross (20 minutes) also close. There are good bus links into town. The neighbourhood is quiet but Upper Street is a 5 min walk away with great shops, bars and restaurants and there are also lots of good dog-friendly pubs and cafes nearby.
Our flat is on the first floor of a traditional Georgian terrace, overlooking a nearby park. It has large floor-to-ceiling windows and is very light, spacious and recently renovated with modern appliances. There are two bedrooms on either side of the hall as you walk in and then the flat opens up to a large open plan kitchen/sitting room with a small bathroom/utility room. There's excellent wifi and a smart TV with netflix, prime, youtube etc. There's also lots of books and a small six-octave piano.
Responsibilities & Pets
The main responsibility would be to look after our dog, Edith. She is very sweet-natured and friendly and though she can get excited with new people, she will quickly calm down and settle on her bed and go to sleep. She's pretty well-trained and socialises very well with other dogs. She needs regular walks (at least 3 a day) and there are two gated small parks nearby to let her off the lead or she will happily join on excursions and sit quietly under a table in a pub. For bigger walks, we go to Hampstead Heath (20min by overground) and she loves fetching sticks in the ponds. We don't allow her on the sofa or on our bed but she has her favourite chair and she will jump onto the lap of whoever is sitting there and fall asleep. She'll need feeding morning and evening and taking out briefly in the morning and just before bed, as well as her bigger walks. She can be left in the flat for up to 4 hours if you want to go out or do something without her. The other responsibilities are just to keep the house relatively clean and tidy and to water the plants if they need it.
