Honeymoon cover wanted for 4 weeks in Oct/Nov for our deaf dog, hens and garden
We are looking for a house sitter to care for our deaf 4 year old collie cross American staffi, Geoff, 3 hens, house and garden plants and greenhouse while we go on honeymoon in October/November for 4 weeks. Would appreciate a trial weekend so that you and Geoff can get used to each other as Geoff is a rescue and likes to feel secure, plus he responds to sign language so you would need to learn his commands. Dates at the moment are approximate as we haven't booked flights yet.
Our Home & Location
Small semi in quiet rural location, 7 miles to the market town of Melton Mowbray, easy driving to Leicester, Nottingham, Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham. On the edge of the beautiful Vale of Belvior, 25 minute drive to Rutland Water. Good village pubs (walkable) and local cafes (driveable). There are no shops within walking distance - nearest is 4 miles. There is an hourly bus to both Melton and Nottingham. We live in a friendly community and there will be lots of neighbours for you to call on for help and cover for Geoff if you want to have a day out.
Responsibilities & Pets
Geoff is deaf, hence the name. Despite this he is easy to manage and a delight. He is a big lad and full of beans. He's well trained but powerful so needs someone who can handle that. He has 2-3 walk per day plus loo last thing at night. He's on a home made diet.
We may have another dog or cat by the time we go away as we feel Geoff needs a companion after our cat died last year....
Our hens will need letting out in the morning, closing up at night and making sure they have plenty of food and water. You should get plenty of lovely fresh eggs.
House plants will need watering and some plants in the garden and greenhouse. There should be a good supply of fresh organic veg. + More info
