We are recently retired teachers, who would like together to visit our daughter in Sweden, occasionally for a 3-4 days and need someone or a couple to live in our home to look out for the cat and the dog. At the moment only one of us goes at a time!
We also like to take longer trips, travelling and therefore could be away for a couple of weeks to a month at a time....
So this is one of these occasions, when we would like some cover for our cat and to look after the house, when we take a trip to France and Spain. We have a lovely friendly dog, a wheaten terrier and a cat (a Bengal). She is very talkative and enjoys human company, although she can also appear very reserved. Although her name is Fruby, we call her Puss! Even during these winter months she spends a lot of time outside, although also likes to come in. Both pets are house trained! We have a detached property within about two acres, overlooking the Medway valley in central Kent. We are within about 15 minutes drive of M20/M25.
There are lots of interesting walks, country houses estates etc around for visiting. We are also within easy reach, by train of London. Mainline stations within 10 minutes drive of our home. + More info
Our Home & Location
Accommodation is likely to be in the main house, which isn’t all on one level. Our son has his own self contained area, however he works away from home in Central West Africa. It is part of the main building and is connected by an internal staircase. Most of the house is on one level. The kitchen is in the main part of the house.
We overlook the River Medway. The house is within a rural farming area. Our neighbours have Alpacas, and another set have Jacob Sheep....
It is possible to fish along the Medway ( Day tickets) and during warmer months many leisure boats cruise up and down.
There are many lovely walks around. We have OS map(s) which we use for walking.
There is relatively easy access to London for days out, the theatre, concerts etc. Mainline train stations to Victoria are within 10 minutes drive of the house. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We would obviously like somebody to look out for the cat, feeding her and occasionally talking to her, so that she feels there is someone there for her. If the dog Is at at home, then usual dog walking, feeding etc. He is very gentle natured, although a bit of a pickle if you leave bakery or something tasty within his reach! He will walk happily on a lead or off, although recall can be haphazard - he will come back for treats. The likelihood is that he will come with us to France/Spain.
Generally just looking after the place for us and hopefully enjoying being in a beautiful part of the South East.
