Adorable dog and two cats seeking loving and friendly pet sitter whilst the family is looking for a considerate, organised person to pet and house sit.
We are a family of six, comprising my husband, me and our four boys aged 17, 15, 11 and 8, as well as our two cats (Libby has only 3 legs but manages just fine) and our one year old dog, Daphne.
We would like someone/a couple to take care of our animals in our own house, as we are not so keen on the idea of kennels/catteries. It is also reassuring that someone can keep an eye on the house and garden during our holidays, as well as looking after the cats and dog together....
Libby and Tabby are typical Burmese cats who crave human affection and attention. In spite of only having three legs following a suspected car accident, Libby is the boss and by far the braver of the two (they are sisters). Tabby is happy to retreat during the day or if there are lots of people/noise but loves to snuggle up with my sons when they go to bed.
Daphne is a very sweet dog and has a wonderful temperament. She likes to have human company and can suffer from separation anxiety when I leave her on her own. She loves her walks and goes off lead when on the country footpaths. She won't stray far from your side when she is exploring. She would desperately love to play with Libby and Tabby but they are having none of it! Libby shows her who is the boss by hissing and lashing out with sharp claws. However, she will often jump up on to the sofa and get as close to Daphne as she can, whilst trying to ensure that she is the one being cuddled by her 'humans'.
Given that we are a fairly busy and boyish household, all of our pets are used to noise and handling. They are pretty easy going animals with no princess-type tendencies! + More info
Our Home & Location
Hi. Our home is located in a village near Sevenoaks in Kent. The village has a small shop/Post Office and there is a pub with restaurant.
We have a house which is an old rectory, built around 1850 and is double fronted Georgian/Victorian style, with large sash windows and decorated in ragstone. However, there will be significant building work going on at the rear of the house (and possibly inside) during the summer. Therefore we are offering our detached converted barn, located next to the house, as the accommodation and home for our pets....
There are 2 bedrooms and 2 en suite bathrooms We have fantastic plumbing with loads of hot water and excellent pressure in the showers. Downstairs there is a large reception/dining/kit with fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine, hob and oven. We also have ultra fast internet so it is easy to download films and use the internet etc.
The garden is around 2 acres and is comprised mainly of lawn, with some vegetable beds, furniture and fire pit. We have a barbecue and dining area outside and there are plenty of spots to sit around the garden, depending on your preference for sun or shade.
The surrounding area is incredibly pretty, with orchards, fields, traditional Kentish farmhouses and plenty of interesting walks.
We are close to many historic houses and gardens (including Ightham Mote and Knole Park) and also some more unusual sites, such as Tudeley Church, where you will find stained glass windows by Chagall. We are about an hour from the seaside (Broadstairs is one of my favourite places and there is the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate). Trains from Sevenoaks to London take about half an hour and you can also travel by train down to Hastings, on the south coast. Bluewater is a large shopping mall about 25 minutes away by car. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
During our absence, we would like the sitter(s) to:
- take care of Libby and Tabby (fed and watered daily plus as many cuddles as you can spare!)
- take care of Daphne (feed and water daily, let her out to play in the garden, play with her, take for a daily walk. She is happy to walk for 30 minutes or 2 hours! If she gets incredibly dirty then give her a quick bath. Cuddles on the sofa. Take outside to do her business morning and evening)
-take care of the house and garden (collect post, deal with any deliveries, keep the house secure - the builders may well be working inside the house during July and August)
- Water the garden daily if required
