Dickens country rural escape
Fancy a fortnight in the countryside in the heart of Dickens country on the edge of the north Kent marshes? Izzie, Meri and Anni would love someone to come and play fetch with them whilst we’re away on holiday, and the cats are always keen on a new lap they can curl up on. While away the hours walking through the woods and RSPB reserve with the youngest dogs, or cosy up with the cats if the weather is bad. At the end of the day put your feet up in the secluded garden, enjoy a BBQ or put the walking shoes back on and enjoy a meal at one of our friendly local pubs.
Our Home & Location
Detached farm cottage in an idyllic rural setting on the outskirts of a small village with shop, and two friendly pubs in walking distance. Cosy accommodation with large garden and fields, set in stunning countryside. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious kitchen and lounge. All mod cons including WiFi, Sky TV, Netflix, PS4, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, power showers and roll-top bath. We love to cook so the kitchen is well-equipped, with large induction range cooker, and a variety of gadgets including KitchenAid mixer, blender and coffee machine.
Rochester is 15 minutes away by car, along with the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, and London is within easy reach. The local villages have many links to the works of Charles Dickens, especially Great Expectations, explore the settings he saw and wrote about. Car not absolutely essential; major supermarkets do deliver to the house and there are buses from the village (10-15 minute walk); the nearest train stations are a short taxi ride away, and the village shop has the essentials. It’s the perfect place to kick back, relax and enjoy life in the countryside in the company of some very affectionate animals.
Responsibilities & Pets
Day to day care of the three dogs (feeding, exercise etc. Only the two youngest will need real walks, Izzie is getting on and is perfectly happy to potter in the garden now). The cats will just need feeding, letting out if they want to go, and provision of a lap in the evening for them if they decide to be social! The horses will mainly be looked after by our neighbour but we would appreciate it if you could keep a general eye on them too (and they would definitely appreciate the odd carrot!).
