joey & dobby
My husband (steve) and I are recently retired and want to enjoy some long awaited holiday travel. We have never used house sitters before as the cat sitting duties were covered by our children. Now however, the last child has moved out and we feel our cats are too old and too spoilt to go to a cattery.
We are therefore looking for a couple to take care of them and give them love, and to keep our home safe and looked after while we are away.
Our Home & Location
We live on a quiet lane in the beautiful market town of Sevenoaks in the Weald of Kent.
The house is a 15 minute walk to the town centre (although part of it is quite uphill!) or a five minute drive, where you can find several quaint old pubs, restaurants and shops, including M&S and Waitrose. The train from Sevenoaks station is only 30 minutes to the centre of London, making a day out there very easy. Also within walking distance is the famous Knole park, a National Trust property once owned by Henry VIII. There are several other Stately Homes in the area including Hever Castle, Igtham Mote, and Chartwell, and lots of pretty village pubs to explore....
Our home is a late Victorian house, that we have recently renovated. It is quiet with a secluded and private garden. There is plenty of space for cars on the front drive. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The main responsibility will be to take care of Joey and Dobby. They have breakfast and dinner, and usually some of their favorite snack of wafer thin chicken slices for lunch. The litter tray will also need cleaning, although they rarely use it if they are able to go outside.
If the weather is good they both like to go outside during the day. Dobby will use the cat-flap, but Joey prefers to have someone open the door for him!...
They are both too old to stay outside overnight in the colder temperatures and therefore sleep at night in the house. Both love attention, and Joey loves to be cuddled.
I have some house plants that need watering and if the weather is dry, also some patio plants which will need water. I would expect the the house to be kept clean and tidy. We have a gardener who will look after the garden. + More info
