Short breaks in ‘The Garden of England’
I work in publishing, mainly from home (as I am technically retired). The two short trips listed are to (1) Ireland to see cousins visiting from the US, and (2) to the Scottish Highlands to visit one of my 4 daughters for Hogmanay. My animals are great companions and I know they would pine in kennels, so all of us would be much happier if a Trusted House-sitter could stand in for me.
Our Home & Location
Shadoxhurst is a rural area with lovely walks from the door, and it also has very good travel communications: buses to Tenterden (20 min) and Ashford (10 min), with a high-speed train into London St Pancras (37 min); rail links to Rye (15 min), Canterbury (25 min) and Brighton (1 hr). A tourist area in summer, there are plenty of dog-friendly excursions and pubs. My house is an extended Kent-style cottage, with friendly neighbours and a little spa right opposite (google Green Farm Kent). It has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Responsibilities & Pets
Feed dogs and cats at 8 am and 5 pm; walk dogs 10am and 3 pm. Sleep in the house. OK to go out for up to 3 hours per day; any longer and they will become distressed, causing the young dog to chew stuff.
