Lion sitting in Leigh (Leo’s actually!)
We are the Lions of Leigh (actually, we are Leonbergers but everyone thinks we are Lions) and we (and the house) need looking after when our humans (Andy and Denise) go on holiday. We are Islay (9), Ceilidh (6) mother of Linus (3&3/4) and we would love to welcome you into our home, especially if you know where the treats jar is kept!!!! We live in a lovely part of Kent with many walks (and pubs) and our humans think it would be best if we had couples to stay as it is easier to manage the walking with two people.
The human part of the household is Andy and Denise Stewart who have lived here for 34 years and have reasonable local knowledge to pass on. They are in their mid sixties and creaking a bit and prefer not to put their dogs into kennels as they feel they are far more comfortable in the own surroundings.
Our Home & Location
We live in a small village called Leigh which is a few miles south of Sevenoaks, just off the A21. The village is in the beautiful Weald of Kent and has easy access to London with mainline services from nearby Hildenborough station or branch line access direct from Leigh to Gatwick and London via Redhill.
The M25 motorway is about 7 miles away giving easy access to other parts of the south-east of England although there are many local historic places to visit, such as Hever Castle (Anne Boleyn), Chartwell (Winston Churchill), Penshurst Place (de Lisle), Ightham Mote and many more....
The village has two pubs, a hairdresser and a well stocked shop. An abundance of shopping of all standards is available locally in Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Royal Tunbridge Wells which also boasts The Pantiles, its own spa, a multiplex cinema and a tenpin bowling complex. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We have three large but friendly Leonbergers, two girls and one boy. They do not require a huge amount of exercise but are quite happy (especially the girls) to bumble along round the fields. Linus, being a boy and younger, has more energy when out but all three are content to sleep the day round. There is a largish pond stocked with carp, koi, shubunken and two sturgeon who appreciate being fed and a dog-eared lawn that appreciates being cut when the sun shines. Sitters should appreciate that three large, long-coated dogs generate a fair amount of dust and dirt and even three vacuum cleaners struggle to maintain a clean environment. We usually drive the dogs around in a van (saves the upholstery on the car) which could be insured for sitters if required.
