Farm house in north east nottinghamshire
Hi, we are Jennie and Roy who welcome you to our large modern farmhouse in north east nottinghamshire. We are retired professionals who enjoy regular breaks in the south of France. Our dogs Jake and Anna are too elderly to join us on holiday and our regular sitters have decided to travel around Europe, therefore were looking for someone new
Our Home & Location
We live in a six bedroom, double sitting room farm house. The house is well appointed with all the usual conveniences and sits off the A614 on the side of a hill in the north east area of the Nottinghamshire countryside. As we are quite isolated the house is protected by a security company who react instantly to our alarm system. The house is surrounded by 5 acres of boundary hedged land which is used for our amenity. There are several sitting areas, a large fountain area and a small walled garden at the side of the house, plus a gated yard. We have several outbuildings, garage and a barn that houses gardening equipment. The house has two open fires and oil fired central heating. Being on the edge of Sherwood Forest, there is no shortage of wood and kindling for the fires. Our nearest shops are 2 two miles way in our local village Farnsfield which has a small coop supermarket and two pubs, one of which has a very good restaurant.
Our property sits on the edge of the Sherwood Forest leisure corridor, so there are plenty of places to visit including Clumber Park and Rufford country park. The Peak District can be accessed within 30/40 minutes. Nottingham city center is 13 miles away and Newark is roughly 12 miles. Other places within easy reach are Lincoln and Chesterfield. The east coast is a 2 hour drive to Skegness or Bridlington. The dogs are happy to be left for 4/5 comfortably hours indoors and we do have an outside kennel which can be used occasionally in the summer if the weather is good.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our well-behaved sibling dogs are thirteen years old and they have lived with us since they were pups. Their age has slowed them somewhat, but they live happily wandering around the grounds of our house. Both dogs are much love, treated without humiliation and they are not mollycoddled. They have their own beds, which they love and will not attempt to sleep on your's or the furniture. Both dogs are on daily medication for arthritic joints. That said, they take their medication without any problems.
Jake's personality is friendly and will walk for about 20 minutes which could be just around our property or a walk through fields adjacent to the house....
Anna can be reserved, but is overall a very friendly dog when she gets to know you. She is smaller than Jake weighing about 32 kilos. Anna leads a sedentary life, in fact she has always been less active than her brother, now she loves to just lounge in her bed but will do a short walk in the paddock several times a day.
Both dogs eat very well and details of how much and the times of day they eat will all be provided so you'll know that they are eating enough. I have a regular routine for you to follow. + More info
