House and Pet Sitting in beautiful Farmhouse in West Bekshire
As a family we regularly like to travel and t we need our pets and home looked after. We have 2 doggies, 2 kune kune piggies and some chickens (we may have a cat by summer too). We own a lovely 5 bedroom farmhouse - it is so quintessentially English surrounded by farm land located some 1.5 miles down a bridle track (easily accessible by car though). We have a home office adjacent to our house in the barn where we employee 3 lovely ladies and a couple of chaps to run our business so we can be away - this means that if you want to go and explore the area in the day (weekdays) you can be happy knowing that you can leave the dogs as the ladies will look after them whilst you are out. However you will not be disturbed by them as this is very separate to the house
Our Home & Location
Beautiful farmhouse situated down a long farm track just outside of the village of Hampstead Norreys in West Berkshire. You will have a lovely double bedroom and bathroom and use of our large farmhouse kitchen and beamed sitting room with wood burning stove. We are about 25 minutes drive from the historical university town of Oxford. The local town is Newbury famous for Horse Racing. Our local villages have wonderful country pubs, coffee shops and village stores. we are about a 20 minute walk from the beautiful ridgeway.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our large Rhodesian Ridgeback is a little nervous and really requires someone with lots of patience and preferably an understanding of the breed or large dogs. once she trusts you she is loving and will have you laughing at her fab personality (she loves a good bounce on the trampoline!). Domino is a lovely old lady who is aging well and still enjoys chasing the pheasants in our garden, she only has one eye and is pretty deaf so you have to watch her on a walk so she doesn't lose you. Zula is very happy to sleep in her kennel in the day if you are out. Domino stays in the house. They will need exercising once a day (though they would go more often if you like). both dogs are good off the lead but Zula can be a little unpredictable with some dogs (she doesn't like black labs) but where we live it is possible to walk her for miles without seeing another soul). In the day during the week they can be in the office adjacent to our house so you are free to explore without worrying about the dogs. However our house comes into its own in the summer so you may just want to stay here!
Greta and Hamish are 2 Kune Kune pigs - they need little care but should be fed once a day (left over veg/fruit (no meat as this breed are vegetarian) top up their water and generally check they are okay - they will sit for a pig nut or two as well!!...
We have some chickens and an old cockeral who will need locking up at night to ensure Mr Foxy Loxy doesn't get them - they will lay you some beautiful eggs. They require topping up with water and chicken pellets.
You may need to water the bedding plants and plant pots if the weather is warm - + More info
