House and Pet Sitting in beautiful Farmhouse in West Bekshire
My husband and I are going away for 10 days and need our house and animals looked after. We need nights and weekends covered, but you will be free to go and explore the area in the day as we have an office adjacent to the house and the girls in the office will take care of the dogs in the day time (Mon - friday). We have 3 boys and therefore the house is well "lived in" and the animals are very much part of our family. We do occasionally need to go away for the odd night as well as other weeks in the year so would like to build up a relationship with a good house/pet sitter to use going forward as we think this would be beneficial to our Ridgeback.
Our Home & Location
Beautiful farmhouse situated down a long farm track just outside of the village of Hampstead Norreys in West Berkshire. You will have a lovely double bedroom and bathroom and use of our large farmhouse kitchen and beamed sitting room with wood burning stove. We are about 25 minutes drive from the historical university town of Oxford. The local town is Newbury famous for Horse Racing. Our local villages have wonderful country pubs, coffee shops and village stores. we are about a 20 minute walk from the beautiful ridgeway.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our large Rhodesian Ridgeback is quite a nervous dog and really requires someone with lots of patience and preferably an understanding of the breed. once she trusts you she is loving and will have you laughing at her fab personality (she loves a good bounce on the trampoline!). Domino is a lovely old lady who is aging well and still enjoys chasing the pheasants in our garden, she only has one eye and is pretty deaf so you have to watch her on a walk so she doesn't lose you. Zula can be a bit aggressive to domino over food so you have to be careful when feeding them - we try and keep them separate. Zula is very happy to sleep in her kennel in the day if you are out. Domino stays in the house. They will need exercising once a day (though they would go more often if you like). both dogs are good off the lead but Zula can be a little unpredictable with some dogs (she doesn't like black labs) but where we live it is possible to walk her for miles without seeing another sole). In the day during the week they can be in the office adjacent to our house so you are free to explore without worrying about the dogs, but between the hours of 7.00 pm and 7.00 am you would be expected to house sit/dog sit and also at the weekends they would need looking after in the day (though they can both be left for quite a few hours).
Greta and Hamish are 2 Kune Kune pigs - they need little care but should be fed once a day (left over veg/fruit (no meat as this breed are vegetarian) top up their water and generally check they are okay - they will sit for a pig nut or two as well!!
