Beautiful rural retreat in West Berkshire
We are grandparents who, following my husband's retirement, have recently moved down from Scotland to Lambourn to be closer to our children and grand children. One of our daughters and her husband have moved in with us and they have a small baby. The labradors and the norfolk terrier belong to us and the spaniels belong to our daughter. We have a son and another daughter, both married with children, living in London. We are animal lovers and also have horses but these will be looked after separately.
Our Home & Location
The house is in a rural hamlet in the downs a couple of miles outside Lambourn. Lambourn has some basic shops for everyday needs but there is a much wider range of shops available in Newbury which is only about 20 minutes away. We are also close to the very pretty village of Hungerford which has a supermarket and a wealth of little shops in a thriving high street. Lambourn is one of the centres of the horse racing community and you can see the horses training out on the gallops in the morning.
There are fantastic rides and walks straight from the house out onto the downs with a network of footpaths and bridleways including access to the reknowned ridgeway path which is about a couple of miles away across the downs. The area is well served by some good country pubs for eating out.
Responsibilities & Pets
Responsibilities would include taking care of the house although there is a cleaner who comes twice a week. Garden care is not required because there is a gardener who comes once a week and will do the mowing etc. The dogs will need regular walks and feeding and there is a secure area in the garden when you need to put them out just for a loo break.
The dogs are friendly and good with other people and dogs and reasonably well behaved! There are plenty of walks straight from the house so the house suits those who are keen on walking and exploring the countryside.
