Sitter required to look after two gorgeous elderly kitties in the comfort of their own home
Hi, I'm Melanie! I am an ex-British Diplomat and am now a Business Coach and partner in an event company. I am looking for someone to look after my home, and in particular, my two elderly girls while I'm on holiday for a week.
Our Home & Location
I live in a gorgeous three storey character house tucked away in a secluded area in the lovely village of Earls Barton. The main part of the house dates back to the 1650s with modern living room and porch extensions. It has a private south facing garden, which makes a nice sun trap when the sun actually decides to come out.
Within easy walking distance of the village centre with a Co-op, post office, butchers, chemists, several cafes, a fish and chip shop, an Indian restaurant and a take away, a Chinese takeaway and three pubs....
The village is also well known for its Saxon church tower and as being the inspiration for the film and musical, Kinky Boots.
A regular bus service runs through the village for those without their own transport connecting Wellingborough and beyond with Northampton. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Shelby has recently been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and will need her medication in liquid form syringed into her mouth twice a day (morning and late afternoon). She's actually surprisingly good about it and will sit on your lap and even open her mouth to let you put it in. I normally feed her straight after. She gets one tray of food in the morning (three quarters in her bowl and the other quarter in the tray on the floor for Poppy to lick the jelly off). I then give her another tray but split it so she gets half at lunchtime and the other half after her afternoon medication. They also have dry bits in a bowl so you'd need to keep an eye on levels, although they don't seem to go down fast, and their water will need regular changing both downstairs and on the top floor. Poppy isn't a big eater but she does enjoy her snacks and I normally leave a few on the sofa for her to snack during the day and some on the bed at night. Both girls are also big fans of cuddles so don't be surprised if your lap feels like Piccadilly Circus at times. NB. Shelby has been having issues with her kidneys and has suffered from a bit of diarrhea recently and hasn't been using her litter tray. The vet thinks it's connected to her condition and is getting better as the medication kicks in but won't be resolved before my holiday so anyone thinking of applying needs to be aware. I have newspapers down throughout the house to make it easier.
