Housesitter needed please for a dog, 2 cats, chickens & ducks in Necton, Norfolk
Hello, I’m Louisa and I lost my housesitter when I moved back to Norfolk, so this experience is new to me! I am animal mad and have a dog, 2 cats and various chickens, bantams and runner ducks who all mean the world to me. I also keep bees, but this won’t be a responsibility for any potential sitters! I have grown up in the countryside and love everything about it and the beautiful North Norfolk coastline. I work in the emergency services and I am honest and trustworthy.
Our Home & Location
My home is a 3 bed semi with one bathroom. I have a large driveway and garden, about 1/4 acre. There are various sheds/outbuildings for storage of bikes etc. I have reliable WiFi and 4g in the village. The village has a good shop and post office, a butchers and a farm shop nearby. There is also a doctors surgery in the village. There is one pub that does good food and has a restaurant area.
Swaffham is only a short 5-10minute drive and has small supermarkets, petrol stations. This is also where my vets are. Dereham is about 10-15minute drive which has more shops and larger supermarkets. Kings Lynn and Norwich are about a 30-40minute drive....
The North Norfolk coast is about 30-40minutes away for beach walks. (Wells, Holkham) The nearest National Trust site is Oxburgh Hall which is about a 15 minute drive and has lovely walks, shop and cafe. Blickling Estate is about 40 minutes away. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
My dog Pepper is a 15 month old Border Collie who will need walking daily, there is a secure dog walking field in the village where he can be let off the lead to let off steam. He loves to have a ball thrown for him. He is very friendly with other people, children and dogs and just wants love, attention and cuddles. He’s very laid back at home and not ‘manic’. He loves the beach and can be let off the lead there. There are lots of lovely walks here that pepper and I enjoy. He will need about an hour a day minimum, whether that’s split in to 2 walks or one longer one, or of course longer if you like! He would go all day!
My two cats are Rhubarb (Foofy) and Burdock. Foofy is a 3 yr old Himalayan Persian, he is cheeky but once he knows you he just loves cuddles and being groomed. He will need grooming every few days and his eyes and nose wiping. He is used to this and seems to enjoy it, especially the grooming. If you show him the comb he will jump on your lap for some pampering! Burdock is a 14yr old moggy. She keeps herself to herself really and occasionally wants to have a lap cuddle. She spends a lot of time sleeping now on the windowsill upstairs! Both cats go out and there is a cat flap in the back door. There is a litter tray just in case in the utility room....
I have 7 bantams (2 are cockerels), 6 hens and 4 runner ducks. They are all named, but I won’t expect you to remember all of those!! They will need letting out of there run in the morning (they are all free range in the garden) and shutting up at dusk once they’ve gone to bed. Their food is in pheasant feeders but will need checking and water checking/replenishing as necessary. The chicken houses will need cleaning every week which is generally a 10-15 minute job. I have an egg stand on the drive, it would be lovely to for my sitter to carry this on whilst I’m away for my regulars. This is of course after you’ve taken whatever fresh eggs you’d like for yourself!
I forgot to say that Pepper and the cats will of course need feeding and fresh water, they have an easy routine and no exact times as I work shifts. The cats always let you know if they’re hungry! + More info
