House and dog-sitters required: 2 labradors, 1 Hungarian Vizsla (currently on her own holiday so not here atm) & 1 Havanese
We are looking for experienced dog lovers to look after our dogs in the comfort of their own home where they can continue with their usual routine and walks, whilst lapping up a little (a lot) of love and attention. We have never had to put our dogs into kennels and would not like to do so anytime in the future. We are a large busy family, situated on the beautiful Leicestershire and Rutland boarders, and enjoy being out and about in the local countryside. We work in Education, teaching and supporting learning in local Rutland Primary Schools.
Our Home & Location
We live in a small but perfectly formed village in the heart of Leicestershire and Rutland. We are in close proximity to Oakham, priding itself in it's lovely, unique shops and cafes - i recommend the Castle Cottage for the perfect afternoon tea next to the pretty church and park. Rutland Water and Nature Reserve is a stones throw away and we would strongly recommend a visit, be it for a scenic walk, or to try your hand at some sailing, cycling or watersports! The village in which we are situated has a Michelin Star, award winning pub serving amazing food much of which is cooked using locally sourced produce. Be aware, booking is advised as people travel far ands wide to eat there! We are also close to Melton Mowbray - home of the famous pork pie! The local area consists of many beautiful villages with pubs that serve high quality food, along with many beautiful walks.
If you wish to travel further a field we are only a few miles from the A1, half an hours drive from Grantham, Peterborough and Leicester. The house is a generous sized four bed with a large kitchen diner, living room with log burning stove, utility, family room and large garden. There is family bathroom and large ensuite bathroom off of a large master suite.
Responsibilities & Pets
The dogs would need walking daily, Ideally twice, however once would be ok depending on the walk.
They mostly go to the field across the road from the house and are able to go off lead whilst in fields and should return to you with the use of a dog whistle. However, It is best to keep them on the lead if other dogs are in the field, just incase another dog is not friendly!...
They would require feeding daily - not precious about time - details can be left at the house.
The dogs are crated in the utility room at nighttime or if we are out and about. The labradors and Vizlsa are also able to go in the kennel situated in the garden for a few hours after a walk and will be quite happy in there.
The small dog stays in the house.
Around 7am the dogs need to be let out on the drive way (supervised) to go to the toilet and any poo will need to be picked up in a pop bag and put into the black bins in the garden.
The dogs are allowed throughout the downstairs but i tend to keep them in the kitchen/utility unless they are with one of us (just incase and especially our lovely Luna). The dogs aren't allowed upstairs.
Bins go out on a Wednesday - would be handy to stick the out for us but do not worry if forgotten
Generally, keeping the place clean and tidy - as found! And please no shoes on in and around the house please.
Other than that, please make yourselves at home! + More info
