House sitter wanted, Cotswolds, England
We have been married for 30 years with two grown up daughters and quite a menagerie!! We have 7 dogs and 2 parrots and some hens and ducks.
I (Claire) work part time as a receptionist at our Vets in our village, which I love....
Paul is a retired police dog sergeant, and now spends his time looking after other people's dogs as well as all of ours. He works our dogs on shoots during October to February.
We live on the edge of the Cotswolds, close to Blenheim Palace in Woodstock where Winston Churchill was born. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with lovely walks and places to visit. Oxford is 12 miles away.
We live in a four bedroom detached house in a small cul de sac, with a good size garden with veg plot and a poultry run for our hens and ducks. We have a gate from the garden leading onto a footpath with no roads for miles on end.
We are looking to visit Croatia again. + More info
Our Home & Location
4 bed room detached house in a cul de sac. There is a log burner in each sitting room with a huge supply of logs. The house is well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The master bedroom has views over the garden and has an ensuite . The house is easy to run. There is a train station in the village (Charlbury) that runs into Oxford and London. Beautiful walks locally. There is a small super market, with a cash machine. Doctors, Dentist and Vets all in the village.
Responsibilities & Pets
We exercise the dogs twice a day and feed them on their return. The lurchers live inside and love nothing better than lying in front of the wood burner! The other dogs live outside in a kennel and run but when we are pottering in the garden they are left to play in the garden.
The parrots get fed and watered twice a day. Charlie is very chatty when you are not in the room, whereas Milly likes to chat when you are there with her ! They need to be cleaned out once a week....
The poultry are reasonably self sufficient . They are housed in a large run and hen house. There is a self topping up water system and the hopper for feed needs topping up about once a week. They do like any veg scraps though! The eggs need collecting every few days and putting outside by the front door where there is an honesty box, so people aren't forever knocking on the door! + More info
