House sit in beautiful Oxfordshire village with dog and cat
My wife (Kate) and my son (Max) and I usually have at least one family holiday together each year. We holiday really well together but miss our house, village community and pets whilst we're away. Kate runs her own consultancy business, Max is a tennis coach and I hum around the edges of the family doing odds and sods! I am also a Board Trustee of a national charity, play badminton, campaign for legal environmental rights, sing in two choirs, do most of the shopping and walk the dog. We are looking for someone to look after our lovely home and pets and enjoy doing so.
Our Home & Location
We live in Sutton near Stanton Harcourt. We are 6 miles west of Oxford and the same distance east of Witney. Sutton is a no-through-road hamlet with no paths or street lights but a very sociable community. It takes 10 minutes to drive to Witney and 15 minutes to Oxford. The nearest village, Eynsham, is a 5 minute drive where you can shop and also catch a bus to Oxford or Witney. We can provide bikes if preferred. There is a wide choice of dog walks from the front door into beautiful countryside. The river Thames is 1.5 miles away. Our house is a very comfortable detached property in half an acre of garden. You can store any stuff you might want to bring with you in our double garage. Car parking is on the drive. Our cleaner comes weekly. It's a lovely place to live! In our grounds, in term times a female head teacher is a tenant in a detached studio annex during the working week.
Responsibilities & Pets
You are responsible for feeding the dog and cat and taking the dog for walks, also for keeping the house clean, tidy and secure, and watering house and garden plants (when needed). Our Saluki is very affectionate, loves human company and is brilliant on his lead (he must be kept on a lead at all times). He is used to being taken into shops and being made a huge fuss of (he is rather beautiful!) wherever he goes. He uses a dog flap and is happy to use the garden as an occasional race track. Our cat just skits around the place and asks to be let in and out of doors! Both animals are in excellent health.
