Rural Cottage dating back to 1628
Our 3 dogs usually go to the kennels when we go away on holiday and have always been fine with this however a friend recommended Trusted House Sitters so we thought we would give it a go as they would obviously be happier staying in their own home. We are a family of 3, myself -Deborah 50 , my husband - Paul 49 and our daughter India 14, we do like to travel often going away 4-6 times per year. I also have 2 horses which live next door on a livery yard so most of my time is spent riding and looking after them, Paul enjoys mountain biking, running & climbing.
Our Home & Location
The cottage is the middle one of 3, it dates back to 1628 so is almost 400 years old. It is situated in a rural location with fields to the front and back yet is easily accessible by car. There are lots of local walks directly from the house without the need to go in the car. The town of Accrington is approximately 3 miles away, Clitheroe, Whalley ( Ribble Valley) is approx 20 minutes drive away, City Centre Manchester 40 mins and the Lake District/Yorkshire Dales 1hr - 1hr 30 away, you can even be on the coast within 45 mins at Blackpool or St Annes.
Responsibilities & Pets
The dogs would need to be fed, watered and walked along with plenty of cuddles - the dogs can access some outside space at the back of the house via a catflap and as such can be left during the day for up to 8 hours however this decked area would need to be regularly cleaned. During the summer months some plants/baskets would need to be watered. We only have electricity and the house is heated by a multifuel stove which needs to be prepared and lit - coal and wood are available but need to be carried into the house. The fire does not need to be lit for hot water this is done by an electric boiler.
