I'm Amanda and I work part time for a small local engineering company as an Accounts Assistant, although I have done a variety of different jobs during my career. My husband Gigi is a Builder and works around the surrounding counties depending on his current contract. We have a 3 year old son George and a 8 year old chocolate lab called Ben. We also inherited some Carp in a garden pond from the previous owners of the house. We enjoy outdoor living, eating out, holidays away in our caravan with our son and dog Ben, and renovating our house. We've been together for 14 years and married for 13. We met on Valentine's Day back in 2004 on the Portuguese island of Madeira, where we were both working at that time. Gigi is Romanian and we do try to visit his family there at least once a year, as well as other holidays both in the UK and abroad as finances and our annual leave allowance allows!
Our Home & Location
We live in a 4 bedroom / 3 bathroom semi detached house, with off street parking and a lovely large safe enclosed back garden. We moved to the village of Gretton, 3 miles from Corby from Luton 2 years ago to have a better quality of life for the whole family. Gretton is a lovely pretty village in the Welland Valley, also close to the towns of Oakham, Uppingham, Oundle, Stamford and near to Rutland Water. The village itself has 2 pubs, a Sports & Social Club, village hall, part time Post Office and Coffee Shop selling essential provisions. There are 2 Aldi's, a Lidls, Asda, Morrisons and Tescos in Corby itself plus a selection of other shops, a cinema, swimming and leisure centre and theatre. There are some lovely walks to be had in and around the village. We are close to the Rockingham speedway (for any car enthusiasts!) and also Rockingham Castle. Gretton is in North East Northants close to the county borders of Leicestershire and Rutland. A car is essential as we recently lost our bus service, although we are actively campaigning to get a bus service reinstated.
Responsibilities & Pets
Basically to look after the house as you would your own, and our dog Ben; to feed him twice a day and walk him once or twice a day, but only for probably a maximum of 45 minutes at a time as he's quite a lazy dog and won't want to go on a really long walk!! Also to feed the fish in the pond. We would just ask that you respect our home as you would your own and be company for our beloved Ben.
