Want variety and a comfortable home? This is for you!
Hi, we’re Liz and Mark and we have recently moved from the rat race of the Surrey commuter belt to the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. We’ve moved because we want to start enjoying ourselves and do the things we love. Mark has recently retired and is enjoying doing “stuff”. Whatever “stuff” is it seems to keep him busy. in fact, he's recently appointed himself "Director of Stuff". I’m still working and enjoy running. I ran the Brighton Marathon this year to raise money for Cats Protection. We’re both skiers and we want to spend a season in Austria. We also enjoy our campervan Zsa Zsa and spend lots of weekends and long weekends visiting various parts of the UK. We also like to pop over to Europe for a couple of weeks during the summer to grab some sunshine. We’d love to take Chilli and Colin, our beloved cats, with us but they don’t like going in the car for a mile journey let alone one of 800 miles! They’re happy in the local “cat hotel” but we’d rather have them at home with loving sitters. We have a new addition to the family in the form of Ted. Ted is a 3 year old Jack Russell Bichon Friese cross. He is a rescue dog and is a happy little chappie. He’ll be coming with us on most of our adventures but there are a few dates where we need to leave him at home.
Our Home & Location
We live in a lovely 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom town house in a small village called Thurcroft. Thurcroft is close to the M18, M1 (you can reach them both in under 10 minutes) and Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Chesterfield and the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire and Derbyshire. We’re an hour from York, Leeds and Manchester and less than 2 hours from the East Yorkshire seaside resorts. For the outdoor types there are plenty of walks and cycling routes in the area. A car would be useful but there are good public transport links to both Sheffield and Rotherham where there are main line stations.
Responsibilities & Pets
Your main responsibilities will be to look after our two beautiful cats, Colin a Bengal/tabby cross and Chili a lovely tuxedo. On the occasions that we can’t take Ted with us you’ll need to be a loving companion to him as well. They all get along and are easy and fun to care for. Please note, Colin disapproves of us leaving him behind and to show his contempt he will “leave home” whilst we’re away. But don’t worry he’s simply hiding somewhere and will come in at night to eat. He’ll sit on the doorstep for a lot of the night in case we come home so that he can make sure when we do get back we know how mad with us he is. Our house is very low maintenance. In the summer you’ll need to mow the lawn once a week and water the few pots that we have in the garden. We also have a few house plants that will need watering. In the winter it’s just the house plants. The window cleaner will need paying. He comes every 6 weeks. If you’re in he’ll do the front and back, if you’re out just the front. Obviously we’ll leave the money for you to pay him. The refuse collection is a whole other ball game which we’ll explain in the welcome pack so don’t worry. We live in a lovely quiet neighbourhood and the neighbours are lovely when you see them. They’ll always help out if you need a hand or any information on the local area.
