Friendly dog & cat sitter wanted in the Quantocks, W. Somerset.
We are in our early 60's. Retired but very busy locally. We want our pets to stay at home rather than go elsewhere where it's not their home as well as being with strangers. (And there is a limit to what you can expect from friends!) My husband is a keen gardener, loves wildlife and is very pleased to have left behind (5 yrs ago) the rat-race of the financial world! I grew up here and too am very involved with various local things. l was a secretary in the past. We have 2 children (24 & 26) who have fled the nest! We have not used a house-sitting service for ourselves but I have in the past for my mother.
Our Home & Location
We live in a 4 bedroom house in the heart of a rural village, Crowcombe, at the foot of the Quantock Hills in Somerset. We look out onto fields and the hills. Fantastic village with a brilliant community shop (at end of our garden), nice pub 50 yards down the road and a nice church with regular services. You can walk up to the top of the hills in 20 minutes and from there just keep walking! Beautiful views all round. We are 5/6 miles from the sea (OK for dog-walking). 3 miles from 2 small towns, each with good butcher and mini supermarkets. Vet is in one of them. Taunton is 12 miles away and Minehead 13. Dunster is 10 miles away and worth a visit. We have a steam engine route! Quite a few pubs with good food and not silly prices around. Our house is completely private with a good sized garden. We are actually in a rather unusual bungalow which feels quite large probably due to its high ceilings of 12' 6" and there are three steps to go upstairs! It is a comfortable home but not ultra-modern furnishings or decor. All very homely. There is a bus route from Minehead to Taunton which runs every half hour up to about 7.00pm. Train station in Taunton.
Responsibilities & Pets
Someone to look after our animals - couple of good walks for Slip daily - and give them lots of love and attention. Take care of the house and garden, water house plants and generally take charge.
