Home & Pet Sit in beautiful Somerset countryside!
We are a young family who have lived in this small beautiful town for 5 years and have grown up in Somerset. We have a young baby and an adorable Fox Red Labrador called Jam. My husband is a teacher and I am a PA currently on maternity leave. We love to travel during school holidays and whilst we love to take Jam with us, it is not always possible. Therefore we are looking for a trustworthy person or couple to come and enjoy our home and all that South Somerset has to offer as well as getting to know the world’s friendliest dog!
Our Home & Location
We live in a 3 bed groundfloor flat situated at the impressive sports fields of a local independent school. Our home is a modern, spacious, well equipped and comfortable space. The garden is large with a BBQ and Chimnea and has a lovely patio area which is especially good for enjoying the evening sun whilst looking out at countryside views. Our home has everything that you would need for an enjoyable stay. There is also access to the school fields for walking and tennis courts.
Bruton itself is a small town that has become more popular with visitors due in part to Hauser & Wirth, a large modern international art gallery situated next door to us (which also has a popular bar and restaurant). On the high street you will find a selection of small independent clothes stores, a pharmacy, two pubs, antique shops, local food shops, petrol station and a well known restaurant/bakery called At The Chapel. There are also a number of excellent countryside walks on the doorstep. The beautiful National Trust property of Stourhead and Alfred’s Tower is only a 7 mile drive away and also has lots of different walks you can do....
There is a small train station in Bruton which can get you directly to Bath and Bristol, both of which are great cities to visit. The beautiful cathedral city of Wells is only a 20 minute drive away and has an amazing little market on a Saturday. The towns of Glastonbury and Street are within a 30 minute drive with Street boasting Clark’s Designer Shopping Village. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Our home is pretty much self sufficient and our garden has no needs. Jam requires two short walks (25 minutes) or one longer walk (hour) a day and feeding twice a day, once in the morning and once at 5pm. He is also a very affectionate dog and so needs lots of cuddles. Don’t be surprised if he comes and sits on your lap as he still thinks he is the size of a puppy!
Jam is a 4 year old Fox Red Labrador who we have had since he was a puppy. He is an extremely friendly, happy, loving dog who loves human company. He walks well on and off the lead and there are plenty of safe walks on the doorstep for him to be off the lead. He has an Instagram account which showcases his adventures! It is @Jam.thegingerdog if you want to have a browse.
