Rural home, a mile from the sea
We are Debs & Martin from West Somerset in our mid 50's. Martin works in business development in the engineering industry. Debs works in admin in the cardiology department at the local hospital.
Our hobbies/interests tend to revolve around our 2 dogs predominantly, enjoying local walks at the beach & in the countryside. Our other main interest is motorcycling, where we often tour both home & aboard.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a 1920's large semi detached property with some quirky Art Deco features & a large garden to the rear. The property itself is currently undergoing renovation with the kitchen being a work in progress. However it is still fully functional during the renovation. Our house sitters will have the comfort of a large double guest bedroom with a nice front garden view. There is a lounge with wide screen tv & a separate dinning room for meal times.
We live on the edge of Williton, which is a large village in West Somerset, between Taunton & Minehead, & only a mile from the coast. The village itself has many facilities including pubs, petrol station, post office, butchers, Co-Op, Spar, hairdressers, fish & chip shop & also an Asian restaurant. There is also a pet shop & vets & 2 churches, & a local park which has an adjacent bowling green....
TAUNTON, a large town with countless facilities & amenities, including a major hospital and a mainline railway station, is approx 10 miles away.
Minehead is a typical British seaside resort with everything you would expect to see including sandy beaches & a quaint harbour, approximately 7 miles away.
Watchet is only 1 mile away & has a harbour with 1000 years of history. It was a favourite haunt for Samuel Taylor Coleridge & appropriately has a large statue of the ancient mariner on the esplanade.
The West Somerset Railway, which is part of the view from the rear of our home, is the longest preserved railway in the country, running from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, where you can enjoy being taken back in time, pulled effortlessly by a steam locomotive through the beautiful West Somerset countryside.
Our home is perfectly situated being a very short drive to the Quantock hills, the Brendon hills & the beauty of Exmoor. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Our gorgeous boys are both cocker spaniels. Ringo black in colour will be 12 months old in September & Oscar our blue roan will then be 10 months old. This will be their first time without us so they will need extra special fuss & attention. They are both completely different characters Ringo being Mr cool & laid back (most of the time)& loves cuddles but can be a little timid at times. Whereas Oscar is very lively & full of life sometimes to the disgust of Ringo who just wants a quiet life. Oscar is very inquisitive & constantly seeking out mischief. He will come to you if he wants cuddles.
The boys are fed twice daily, & walked at least once a day. They have the run of the secure garden, whichever helps to release their seemingly endless energy. They sleep in their separate crates at night, & are let out to the garden early morning to do their business. Ringo will let you know when he's ready! As they are pups, we still have the very occasional mishap, but this is confined to the scullery, where they eat & sleep....
They are not trained off the lead, so whenever they leave the house & garden, they are secure & safe on a lead. The front garden is not secure, so unsafe for the boys off lead. + More info
