Company for our Hugarian Vizslas close to Stonehenge and Avebury
We are a dog-loving semi-retired couple who enjoy village life and walking our Vizsla Amber, and her two one year old pups, locally on Salisbury Plain.
Our Home & Location
We have a cottage in the small village of Enford and East Chisenbury, twenty minutes drive south from Marlborough.
The village offers both a 'Foodies' restaurant close by and a traditional English pub serving excellent food and drink (at the other end of the village). We are surrounded by open countryside and we are close to the ancient heritage sites of Stonehenge and Avebury. Local towns include Marlborough, Salisbury, Devizes and Andover (which has excellent train links)....
For us however the attraction is Salisbury Plain itself - a vast military training expanse with open access to walkers and dogs - you will see gliders in action from Upavon camp, parachutists being trained at nearby Netheravon camp, military helicopters, and occasionally army tanks on manoeuvres. You reach the plain directly from the house, or we tend to drive the dogs into the central area away from all other folks! (We have a dedicated dogs car for such trips which would be available to sitters subject to insurance cover).
Pewsey is ten minutes drive away and offers a supermarket and other smaller shops, and Marlborough is another ten minutes north. Marlborough has one of the widest high streets in Britain, regular street markets, as well as comprehensive shopping and eating places. Our two seater open top car would be available to sitters subject to insurance cover.
Local train stations provide access to London and the rest of the rail network, and with a car we are only ten minutes from the A303 trunk road which heads east / west along the south of England.
There are cycles in our garage and many opportunities for rides both on the road or on tracks across the plain. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We are looking for sitters who would enjoy walking the dogs twice a day locally and ensuring they are let out regularly and fed morning and night time - the dogs are super friendly and are great company.
