Ella and Lottie the black Labradors would like you to come and look after them
We are Anne and Steve Clark and live in Hilperton, near Trowbridge, Wiltshire. We have two lovely black Labradors called Ella who is six years old and our 14 month old puppy, Lottie. They love company, going for walks, swimming and trips out in the car and they would love someone to come and stay with them in their home instead of going off to kennels while their mummy and daddy are away. I am self-employed and work from home. I also have a horse (Caddy) so Ella and Lottie are my constant companions both at home and at the stables. The owner of the horse I share a field with looks after Caddy in my absence so you will not be required to get involved with him.
Our Home & Location
We live on the Paxcroft Mead development in Hilperton, close to Trowbridge. The road where we live is a cul-de-sac. Our house is a four-bedroom detached property which we have had extended earlier in the year to include a large kitchen/living area and we have just had new bathrooms put in (July 2018). We have lovely neighbours. There are fields across the road for dog walking, the Kennet and Avon canal is close by and accessible by walking from our house and there are lots of places to dog walk by taking a short car journey.
Trowbridge, which is the county town of Wiltshire, is two miles away and is walkable. We are also close to the historic town of Bradford-on-Avon (approx. four miles) and also the beautiful City of Bath (approx. 12 miles). There are lots of cycle routes around the area and of course, cycling along the towpath. There is a good bus service with bus stops close by. The train station is about a 30 minute walk away....
There is a community centre, supermarket with Post Office facilities, hairdressers, fish & chip shop, Chinese takeaway, pharmacy and a pub/eatery just a five minute walk down the road from our house. The Lion & Fiddle pub/ which has a Gurkha restaurant is a 10 minute walk (max) from our house towards Hilperton village.
A short car journey from our house takes you to the lovely village of Steeple Ashton where you will find a convivial community grocery store and coffee shop (they also stock my greetings cards!) and along the road is a great village pub called The Longs Arms that has a restaurant. A few miles on from Steeple Ashton is the village of Eddington where there is a very nice farm shop with its own micro brewery and the Three Daggers pub/restaurant.
We are also close to the village of Holt where you can visit The Courts, a National Trust property. The Glove Factory Studio is a wonderful place to stop for coffee and cake or something more filling - dogs are most welcome here, both inside and out. The Tollgate pub/restaurant is very nice too and they also have a farm shop within their car park area. A few minutes car drive from this area takes you to Great Chalfield where Great Chalfield House (National Trust property) can be found (the front view of which was featured in Poldark). Not far from here (10 minutes by car) is a lovely cafe called Merkins - dogs are welcome here. Avonfield Cafe can be found at the garden centre in Hilperton village, a few minutes drive - no dogs. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
To look after our home, Ella and Lottie as if they were your own. Ella and Lottie will require feeding, walking and company. They can be left in the house alone without any issues for up to four hours.
We have a garden so would appreciate it if plants could be watered as required especially the ones in the pots during the summer months.
