Pet sitting in Cornish seaside village
We are looking for a sitter to sit for 10 days during the English Easter holidays.
We are a happy family of 6 - myself (46), my husband (44) and our daughter(10) and of course the 2 dogs and the cat. We have lived in St Agnes now for 4 years and have enjoyed becoming part of the vibrant village community here, taking part in the Christmas day swims, dog racing on the beach and surf life saving to name but a few. We have excellent friendly neighbours who are always there to lend a hand or pop out for a drink down the local pub. St Agnes has beautiful walks both inland and coastal. We are only 25mins walk to the beach and 10 minutes from a sea view....
We would love to go away on holiday but have always had to rely on family and neighbours and now that we have 2 dogs its a little more difficult to find care for them. They love walks and a game of ball. The both also like to come and lie in the lounge at your feet for a cuddle. Our cat has recently been restricted to an indoor cat with only occasional visits outside due to a middle ear infection that has left his balance very wobbly. He loves cuddles however and a nice warm lap every now and then. I know that they would all love to have someone to share their home with while we are away and we would be happy knowing that they were people who would love them back. x + More info
Our Home & Location
We live about 1 mile from the local beach and just a few minutes drive. The beach has a carpark, beach cafe, toilets and pub. It is lifeguarded from easter to the end of September. There is an active surfing community too.
Our home has 4 bedrooms (2 ensuite) and a family bathroom plus downstairs toilet. There is parking for one car in front of the garage and a large garden. We have a view of St Agnes beacon from our house and it is just 20 mins walk to get to the top where you have far reaching views of the north coast of Cornwall from St Ives to Newquay....
The city of Truro is just 20mins drive away and has all the amenities of a small city with shops, restaurants, theatre, pubs and the Cathedral.
We are about 45 mins from the famous Eden Project and in easy reach of many beautiful beaches suitable for a wide mix of water sports or just a relaxing afternoon soaking up the sun.
There are many beautiful walks for you to explore ranging from just a short half hour flat stroll to a 4hr hike!
It is a beautiful and busy village with 2 butchers, 2 grocers, 2 village shops, bakers, florist, chemist and several places to eat out just a short walk away. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Dogs would need walking at least once a day and they would also enjoy a trip to the field for a game of ball occasionally. They do keep each other busy playing in the garden though so don't need as much exercise as a lone dog.
When playing on the field They are both safe to be let off the lead as they are totally ball obsessed. When walking anywhere else the cocker would be best on an extending lead as he has a tendency to run off after exciting smells. Badger is fine off the lead as long as there are no cliffs or roads or livestock and generally likes to trot by your side....
They are both very friendly, sociable dogs who play happily with other dogs they meet. Marmalade is a full dog but has no aggressive issues.
The cat needs very little. He likes to go out into the garden occasionally and explore and he also like to do his business out there, although he does have a litter tray in his room.
All pets would need feeding twice a day and fresh water whenever they need it.
If it is in the summer or spring then there would probably be watering to be done in the greenhouse and for any pots and maybe a lawn mow and dog poo picked up and thrown away.
Also, to keep the dog hair from multiplying too much the kitchen would need vacuuming or sweeping most days. + More info
