House-sitting for short breaks and occasional longer periods
I am a single retired woman with children living abroad so I like to visit them once a year. My house is part thatched and on a public footpath so I do not want to leave it uninhabited at any time. My little terrier Tigger is very affectionate and easy to look after. He goes everywhere with me and has been sleeping in my bedroom since his brother was killed by badgers earlier this year. I've never left him with anyone before but he is very friendly to people and other dogs and, provided he gets plenty of exercise and cuddles, he should be fine.
Our Home & Location
I live in a detached barn 4 miles from Truro. There are lots of wonderful walks straight from the door: around the wooded creeks of the Fal river and the woodland walks on the nearby Trelissick estate. The King Harry ferry is 10 minutes away across to the Roseland peninsula for coast path walks. The house is on two levels with quite a lot of steps inside on the ground floor. The gardens surround the house and amount to about an acre. Kitchen with Aga, plus wood-fired oven and barbecue in the courtyard just outside the kitchen. Wood-burning stove. Superfast broadband. Piano (for playing!) Regular gardener who comes weekly.
One-bed cottage in the grounds, and one-bed self-contained annexe attached to the house with separate entrance, both let out to permanent tenants.
