My name is Suzie and my husband's name is Simon. I am a child minder and work within our house setting. Simon is a Firefighter and works away from home during the week. Taking a holiday is not so easy in our line of work and time off can sometimes be at short notice. Previous house sitting has been done by family and friends.
Our Home & Location
Our home was purchased as a barn needing conversion having been used as a cattle shed and milking parlour, but was obviously the original farmhouse given the fireplace and bread oven which is now a feature of the sitting room. We have a large kitchen complete with a table that will seat 12 comfortably, a sofa and an arm chair,a large sitting room, downstairs loo and shower, 4 double bedrooms (2 ensuite and 1 with bunk beds as well), play room and family bathroom.
Outside we have a secure garden area (just needs the finishing touches) so the dogs can be let out without fear of them legging it. Beyond the garden we have about an acre of land which is mainly grass, with a small orchard, play area and field shelter(which is where I work most of the time)....
The house is situated within a working farm on the edge of Bodmin moor, but only a mile off of the main route to north Cornwall and 8 miles from Launceston which has a good mix of amenities. In the surrounding area there are a wide range of places to visit and things to do. Close by on the north coast are Bude, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Padstow, as well as a number of beautiful sandy beaches and the stunning south west coast path although we do live on the "tough bit" but i is worth the effort and you can stop at The Port William at Trebarwith strand for a drink and an amazing sunset afterwards . A little further afield are Truro, Newquay, Plymouth, Tavistock, the Eden project, and Dartmoo + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Feed and walk the 3 dogs, feed the 2 cats.
Looking after the poultry involves letting them out in the morning and putting away in the evening and making sure they have enough food and water, they have fox proof runs they can be put into if you know you won't be home by dusk but normally they roam freely.
